Exclamation Janome Sew Mini

The Sew Mini will be on sale in Hancock Fabric stores next Thursday, Friday and Saturday for $39.99. I just got mine and I'm SO excited! (It was on sale this week for $49.99 and I "couldn't" wait).

Default Sew Mini Question

Can anyone who currently uses one tell me what needles and what type of thread works best for cardmaking? The lady at Hancock wasn't sure.

I'm using the needle that came with it. i didn't see any extras in the package..getting my manual out...ok here goes...the machine is equipped with a size 14 needle. that is a medium weight needle...and so far it's perfect for sewing on paper. As far as the thread goes, i am a quilter, so i have mega spools of quilting thread and it seems to be working just fine. I've also used cotton blends...without a hitch! good luck! :-D

Santa brought me one and I had no thread so I had to wait a few days before I could use it. Boy is it nice and super easy! I hadn't sewn in about 15 years but it all came back to me and now I can't stop sewing on my cards! LOL

I bought one and have spent 2 hours trying to thread it. Can't get the bottom thread to feed.:(

The book has very good directions. It is obviously operator error. It is about to kill my DD, who has 3 new craft books she is itching to implement.

I went to get the mini but left with the next one up. It was on sale for $79. the mini was 49. For 30 dollars more this machine did much more. It makes button holes and you can sew on denim. It weights 11 lbs. not 5 lbs. like the mini. It was such a hard choice. I wish I had you all to help me!!! Do you think my machine is going to do okay?

Basket Girl...it will be GREAT! I dont sew AT ALL. My machine is only for cards and scrapping. The Janome dealer told me that they are great for this but that if you use them (the sew mini) for a lot of other things they will wear out sooner. So...if you plan to do anything with denim you made the right choice.

I just got mine and I love it too--even inspired me to shorten a pair of slacks for my DH which had been hanging in the closet forever.(though I did handstitch those).
