No but it doesn't matter. I had a giant purple letter 'P' inked onto my Versamark and it still worked fine. I suggest you use a paper towel to wipe off any excess ink then just reink your Versamark. Even without ink on your Versamark it still gets very dirty looking - again, it'll still work fine.
The pad will dirty up anyway, no matter how careful you are....you THINK you have wiped away all the ink on a stamp and go and tap it on the Versamark pad.....guaranteed to put marks on the pad!...eventually getting like a grey/green tinge to it. It will not harm its performance at all. I still have my first Versamark pad and it is ok!
Like Angie just said...wipe it off quickly if it is annoying you...otherwise...all is good.
when the top surface of my 5 year old versamark looked like absolute CRAP.. and there was ink color coming up with each new use.. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I peeled carefully the pad off the base, flipped it and glued it back down the to base, Viola a semi-new 5 year old versamark pad.
it has some spots where the original glue pulled some of the padding off, but that doesn't affect my work as I am usually smooshing my stamps to that thing and reinking it a little almost every 4 months.. Yes I use my versamark pad A LOT!
I only recommend this approach when you are getting ready to throw it out for a new pad.
You know, until yesterday I would have said it didn't matter because mine looked horrible and worked fine. However, yesterday I went to do the cracked glass technique and there was a big black "c is for cat" that my friend accidentally stamped into my VM pad--which came off on my cracked glass piece... So be aware, especially if you are using a clear EP, that there might be some yuck in the VM ink.

I've had a Versamark pad since they first came out. It is ugly! I have used it for all of my stamping & many many classes & make & takes. I just re-ink it when it needs more ink. I've had to get over it's ugliness. I even had a student spill a jar of embossing powder on it & one dropped it into a container of embossing powder in a storage container. No worries, we just scraped it all off with a piece of cardstock. It still works fine. So, a few stains is just fine. Your pad will still work.
I have one old pad that has a lot of residue ink on it and I marked the lid "OLD" so I know it from the newer one. I'm very careful when I use the new one I stamp with no ink on a scrap piece with the stamp to make sure it is clean before using it.
Like previous posters said it usually doesn't matter if you are using it to emboss or something. But sometimes it does show. That's when I use the newer pad.
