Default Ink Pads and Matching Paper

Several years ago I sold all my ink pads, I found I just wasn't using them. My style of card making has changed since then and I'm thinking to invest in a set of ink pads with a company that I'm also able to get matching cardstock. If you had to start over and get new ink pads which ones would you get.

Disclosure: I am a Stampin' Up! demo. I have always loved the fact that the Cardstock and inks have matched perfectly as have their ribbon, embellishments, etc. best thing about the company in my opinion.

I really like MFT and if I was just starting thats where I would go. I have just about everything SU but I have tried MFT ink and have several of their papers. The quality is great!

The colors at My Favorite Things are a bit bright for most of my stamping, but I LOVE their muted and neutral cardstock and ink. It DOES NOT bead up on clear stamps like SU does. I do have Red Hot ink from MFT and it has great coverage on their solid poppy stamps. The cardstock is heavier than SU, better for card bases. I keep buying SU for the colors, and only buy the markers to match; I have found that suits my needs.

Regardless of the brand you choose my suggestion would be to be very selective about the colors you decide to purchase. I find that I use about 10 or 12 colors very frequently and the rest only occasionally. I have mostly darker and mostly neutral color ink pads like black, brown, tan, navy, green, red, etc. The rest of the colors I use are markers as I find I use the rest of the colors only occasionally and I can ink my stamps with the markers pretty easily. I especially use markers for the more pastel colors as I don't stamp in those colors very often.

I became a SU demo because I loved the ink and matching paper so much. I actually found out that I spent less on mismatched papers and ink that matched nothing I had. I love the color families, it makes putting together projects much much easier! I actually sold all my other inks and now have 100% SU inks and card stock.
