I'm going to second the Palette inks. They are wonderful inks pads, versatile, and work wonderfully on glossy card stock and with watercoloring.
I also love Brilliance ink pads. They sparkle. I love sparkle, but not glitter. Go figure. Opalites are also sparkly, but I only have reinkers, no pads yet.
For multi-colored pads, I like Kaleidocolor, but I have to admit, I haven't tried any others. I love the KC pads because the colors are vivid and turn out so well on paper.
SU!, I love their color range, but can't stand the way their pads work (the package). I own bunches of them, and still fight with them every time I use them.
Alcohol inks are fabulous, too. I love them for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest is because the colors are so pretty and the backgrounds always come out beautiful.
I love the colors of the Paper Salon dye ink pads - and they are styled like the old SU pads so they don't warp, etc. The only drawback is that they don't have reinkers for them. I contacted the company and they wanted to know if I was an artist or a shop owner....no one else had ever asked them for reinkers for their pads and they wanted to know why I wanted them! Needless to say, I haven't bought more of the pads for that reason, but I sure do like the pads I have....
I love Ranger Distress inks. I don't do anything fancy, mostly do "normal" stamping with them that results in images that look like those stamped with any other dye ink. I love the faboo colours they come in, the great size, and the price is right! I also like that I can do the occasional technique with them if I want.
Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink is another fave -- great colour selection, beautiful finish, and a perfect impression every time!

Ranger's Archivers Black - just invested in the humungous pad, and love the true black. Plus you can watercolor with it. My SU basic black is worn right out, but I don't think I'll replace it.
I also really like my Brilliance pads for their quick drying time, ability to stamp light colours on dark CS, and shimmer, but they evaporate so quickly I stopped using them because I was worried about the pad drying out halfway through a project or something silly like that. Now I have the reinkers for the colours I own, I have no excuse for not using them!
what store to find these? don't really like to order stuff online. TIA
I don't have a store reference for you because I do all my craft/stamping shopping online since I only have one small LSS nearby, and they don't have a lot of variety. Our Michaels is 30 miles away and has very limited stamping department IMO.
I got my Versafine pads at Joann.com during their inkpad sales. Also, .com has a very large selection of all kinds of inkpads and wonderful service.
Sorry this doesn't really help you much. A new Target Superstore is opening this summer about 3 miles from my house and I can't wait to see what they are going to carry.
I agree with you on both of those. I use those type of inks but use them mostly to distress.
