you can buy the wire cutters for cheap at the dollar store.
I agree that you will also need chipboard (so you can make your own shapes and sizes) or the Zutter covers.
You can also use coasters to make post-it-note holders too. I have also bought some recipe cards to use on the inside of the book which I have to pre-cut my covers (out of chipboard) to match.
I wish I had purchased the spacer that allows you to punch the holes closer to the edge, when I bought my BIA. I am still toying with purchasing the corner rounder.

Thanks! Is there a wire size that you feel you use the most, or do I want an assortment of colors/sizes?
Cynthia
The size depends on what you`d like to make. Most versatile are 3/4, if you are interested in larger projects than small notice books larger would be handy. The smaller ones are interesting, if you have the spacer. Than your holes are tighter to the edge which means you get more pages into a project with the same wire.
I would choose the colours depending on your taste of colours. In my opinion you could use white, black and silver for the most projects. If you are a girly girl pink and red would be great. pink and light blue would be great for stuff for little ones I think.
I would get acrylic, chipboard, and metal (sheet) and wires. In fact, kits2remember.com sells them as a starter kit; the starter kit comes with acrylic, chipboard, and 6 pieces of wire.
