I Need Help Using Tags!?
Can anyone (or lots of people, hopefully) tell me how you use tags in your stamping? I have the 2 tags punches now and I have only found 1 way to use it on a card. There is something that I just dont get about tags. I feel like I am just putting it on a card with no point to it, it is just sitting there, KWIM??
Please give me some ideas and please post any examples that you have of different ways to use tags on cards. I did a search using keyword "tags" and I get way too many types of projects...Thanks sooooooooooo much!!
One super easy way to jazz up a tag is to fold a piece of ribbon, twill tape, fabric, etc. in half and staple it right to the tag. If you look carefully, you'll see a lot of tags and other accessories with staples.
Also, you could punch a hole in the tag and set in an eyelet, then run cord/ribbon through that hole. The eyelet makes it a bit more substantial. You can also just put a brad in there, it will look good too.
You can layer on tags too. I like to stamp an image onto white paper, cut it out (or use a smaller punch like SU's new one) smaller than your tag, and ink up the edges of the white with the same color ink as the tag will be. Then layer this onto the tag, which is that color. Coordinating ribbon looks great with this too.
I like the look of stamping 3 tags and putting them in a row on a card...you could stamp them with 3 of the same images for a simple look or 3 different ones if you like. Embellish them like the pp said with eyelets, ribbon, layers etc.

I use to feel the same way! Sometimes still do.... I have a bunch of stamped tags I made for cards that I didn't use because I didn't like the way the looked! The ideas I had in my head didn't turn out quite right I guess! Anyway... I've got a few in my gallery that turned out really nice w/tags on 'em if you want to take a look.

Should have mentioned... some in my gallery have the above mentioned ideas from the others.
The smaller size envelope from the 5-in-1 card cover template is just the right size to hold the tag from the tag punch. You can also attach a larger piece of cardstock to the card with an opening made by the word window punch for the tag to slide into.
I know. I have the same problems. I finally made a card the other day with my tag punch but the tag looked kind of funny so I cut some paper around it in the tag shape to give it some depth. But I have had the Punch Box since last year's winter mini- and I hardly EVER use it. But there are some great ideas in this thread- I will definitely check them out!
I love your tag cards. I am so thrilled with my tag punch and look forward to getting the new mini tag punch. I use mine so often and have used all the various suggestions above.
Definately put some ribbon or a brad or eyelet at the top. I did a card with 3 tags across it and only stapled ribbon to the middle one and my hubby thought the other two looked like tombstones.

OK, I just did a search for crafting using tags, and I found several sites that really got me excited!
Paper Wishes Webilog -- great episode using a tag template, but just substitute any tags in their examples. In the 2nd scrapbook page example with black tags that act as mats for letters, picture the SU tag folded down with a brad to hold and used on a card instead of page. It would be adorable! Click on the link, then scroll down for "Pockets & Tags Template" http://www.paperwishes.com/webisodes/index.php?page=archivebn
How are you making the mat for the tag? just eyeballing and cutting? I wish they had made a punch a little bigger instead of a little smaller.
I generally eyeball it (I finally let go of my perfectionist tendencies!), but SU has a perfect matting tool called Perfect Layers. I used it at a stamp camp once and thought it was a terrific tool.

Thanks for all the great ideas, keep em coming! I just got the small tag punch to use to layer with the original SU! tag punch so I am trying ot use my new toy as much as possible.
muffincards-when I click on your cards to see them it says I don't have permission...

I use the lines of the actual stamped image and cut around it by hand. Then I use the tag punch to cut the cardstock that will frame the image.
I didn't realize that you couldn't view one of my links without permission? I must have posted it in a SU demo gallery or something. I wonder if you can view it by going to my gallery directly? Sorry about that. HTH....

Thanks for the neat idea using the word window punch.
