Hooray! I learned to use a Stamp a ma jig- finally!!!
After having it for over a year, I finally learned to use my stamp a ma jig. That thing is so cool! I thought that it would be too time consuming and complicated, but that's not the case at all. I learned to use it by watching a video on the Creating Keepsakes website, www.creatingkeepsakes.com. If you've never looked at them, it's worth a try. I love watching Erin show me a technique at her kitchen table. If you click on scrapbooking on the upper left, then click on video, you will go to the menu of video clips that show you different techniques. I admit to being rather slow on the uptake with some things  and had to watch it a few times, but it works so well and is so simple. Give it a try!
I also didn't understand that tool but then I decided to get one and try it and I am so glad I did! I only wish that I would have discovered it sooner! It is now one tool that I put at the top of my list of things I couldn't live without when stamping.
I just tried mine this weekend for the first time and LOVE IT!!! I've probably had mine for nearly a year.....guess I thought it would be complicated. I read the instructions and tried it, and can't believe I haven't tried it until now. You can believe that it will be out and accessible from now on!!!

I had no clue how to use it until I saw the video a few months ago and I had had mine for several months before it... Once I learned to use it I reach for it all the time now.
ok, I watched the video and am ready to give it a try.
one question---does the image wipe off the plastic piece or do you buy more plastic sheets as you use it more?
My tool came with 2 sheets or blanks and they wipe clean easily. I know in the SU catalogue you can buy extra sheets, but I don't know why you would. If I needed extras, I would create some from plastic I have lying about. Is this a cool tool or what?! ;)
Someone on here also recommended that you use a transparency, stamp with Stazon, and keep in your box so you always have a template and don't have to stamp your plastic sheet every time. I haven't tried it, but plan to!
When my sister visited me in the fall, she showed me how to use it. How did I ever get along without it??? As was mentioned by Steubner, I have stamped on a transparency and keep it in the stamp box.
Are we all the same? I've had mine for way over a year too and I've just recently learned to use it. It's funny because I read the directions and thought "huh?" but a friend showed me how to use it. I just love it!! How did I get along with out it for so long?
I also love the idea you had jtax about the vellum. I do something similar to that with my making. I've got lots of little peices of "masking" in my SU boxes that I use over and over.

I may "win" the prize for longevity. I've had my stampamajig for at least 3 years. It looked hard to me so I promptly stored it away. Now I wanna try to use it. I hope I can remember where I stashed it!

I've had my Stamp-a-ma-jig since... hmmm... 2002? Five years? I was really lucky to get it on clearance for $3.50. Actually, I bought two and sent one to a friend of mine. After taking a few stamping classes last year, I realized how much I really use this tool -- because I didn't have it with me for the classes. I recently bought a second one that I can take with me. Just an FYI regarding the refill packs -- check your LSS before you buy them via Stampin' Up. My LSS sells the three pack for only 99 cents. (Compared to SU's $2.50 for the same thing plus shipping.)
