Does anyone know how to make stickles dry faster? I put it on a bit thick.
I have a heat gun, but I am afraid it might might get melty. I need a solution quickly...I am short on time!
Hi Traci - I tried a heat gun, and ended up burning my paper (it was probably user error, but I haven't tried it again to see if I get a different result). I have also tried a blow dryer (use a low blow setting, heat from underneath the project if possible so that the air doesn't shift the stickles) with some success. Sorry, maybe others will have a better idea.
If you have a fan - just a regular house or floor fan that blows around the air, that helps. I have used it in a pinch before. Kind of like blowing on nail polish premise. Good luck!
Thank you both, for taking the time to reply. I thought the heat
gun seemed like trouble...for whatever reason. I will try the fan
in the room, but not blowing down on it directly...so it doesn't
spread out.
Thanks to both of you again. Very sweet of you to share your thoughts.
Thank you to everyone who helped me out! I really appreciate it.
I am trying to use a small fan...about 6 feet away from the card, so it won't "blow" all of the stickle goop over the card...and carpet..and sofa!
I laughed about the Patience answers. The nap sounds like a good idea. It is thunderstorming here, and we are supposed to be ready for a tornado. I'll stick my head under the sand for a while. (We get warnings or watches almost every day from spring to summer...here in the Central Florida area.
Thanks again for everything! SCS people are fabulous people!
I put mine under my lamp, not too close, it has a regular 40w bulb in it. It seems to dry faster with no problems. But I cant guarantee you will have the same results ;)
Where I used to live I had DH install a shelf in the boiler room and would put many projects in various drying stages there. It not only helped them dry but the cat would not get curious :-D.
The boiler room in our apartment has no room to do thta but the D/R (where i craft) has track lighting and even with a low wattage bulb it gets hot enough for my neck to get sweaty (in winter!) so I just keep them out on the table and cross my fingers the cat will find other things to keep him busy (he's only gone on the table once or twice in the years he's owned us ... but he likes to visit the kitchen sink ... quirky!)
Anyway, it's hard to be patient but it is a good reason for a nap!

Completely off topic, but I like how you describe the role of you cat in the family. I have also followed glittery paw prints down the stairs, over the leather sofa, on on the hard wood floors, so learned to shut the craft room door AFTER ensuring kitty is not in the room.

OT but so very true :-D. Our cat was trapped in my FIL's room for 3 hours yesterday. My FIL doesn't always close his bedroom door when he leaves it and the cat "just knows" and then goes and hides in the closet (FIL keeps that door open all the time). I didn't think he was missing because 3 minutes earlier I saw him go "hide" under a chair that is partially blocked from view (and his favorite spot 'coz it's hard for us to retrieve him - smart kitty!)
things like stickles and glossy effects are glue based so applying heat just melts the glue. Think of how you would try to unstick things stuck together--you would apply heat somehow. A cool dry spot is the best place to dry glues. No heat. Tedious, I know.
I usually do my stickles or glossy effects as the last touches, or at the very end of a session so that I can just leave it be for several hours or over night.
i've read most of the posts, but not all. i am one for using a small fan. not on high, the lowest setting it can go on. dont put it too close to the fan, should dry quicker and yes like some have said not "flat" when you use a heat gun.
I think I read on Tim's blog that the only stickles up to drying by heat gun are the Distress Stickles. Not sure why they would be unaffected, but I guess he should know!

On the subject of Stickles .... what Stickles color is the clearest? I like to add bling ... but want it with as little added color as possible?

Most of the regular 'clear' stickles I've seen have some sort of color to them. Light gold, blue, etc. The most clear one I've seen is Rock Candy Distress Stickles - but it is chunkier than the regular stuff.
