Question Help with Top Note

I have noticed on several cards in the gallery that the Top Note looks layered. How is this look achieved? Its probably really simple and I am being dumb but yet I can't get that same look? Help?

Just trim off the outer edge along the perforation line with a pair of Paper Snips.

If you have a Cricut, and the Accent Essentials cart or the Storybook cart, both have images very similar to the Top Note die.
