Default Help--Staz-on smearing with Prismacolor pencils

I am using Staz-on Jet Black ink on SU! Whisper White paper and Prismacolor Premier Pencils, and the Staz-on is smearing----and I am NOT even using gamsol or any blender! The Staz-on dried overnight. I started trying to color flesh tones and lighter colors and the ink smears making the "skin" look gray.

This does not appear to be a defective pad. I have used it for other things and have refreshed it with Staz-on reinker several times. The Staz-on does NOT smear when I use the Bic Mark-its--only when I use the Prismacolor Premiers.

Has anyone else had this problem? I used the search function to check the forums but didn't find any mention of this problem.

I don't have an M's, or HL, or Archivers, or any other store like that near me where I can buy Memento or Pallette. Any suggestions?

I've never used SU paper, but I've had much success with Stazon on Strathmore Cold Press paper (vellum or smooth). This comes in the yellow tablets that I have seen at HL and M's. This is what was recommended to me from a very good color pencil artist. He said that you should use cold press over hot press paper because hot press paper has a coating covering the surfase of the paper that colored paper and some inks don't adhere to well.

I'm just thinking it might be the paper and not the ink...because Stazon and Prismacolor pencils work beautifully together.

I have some Georgia Pacific white cardstock. I will give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion about trying different paper. It is good to have someone look at the problem from a different perspective. All I could think of was it being an ink problem.

 Wow! I never had that problem and I was using Gamsol, too. If changing the paper doesn't work, I guess you could try embossing with clear detail ep or if you have Momento Tuxedo Black, that should work.

Let us know how you finally solve this. It would be good for all of us to know.

Oh, by the way, I was using SU Whisper White and did not have that problem.

I have the same problem with my StazOn ink pad and prismacolor pencils. The ink always smears. I am glad I'm not the only one. I've been thinking about trying the Momento Tuxedo Black since people seem to have luck with that.

Did switching the paper work out?
