I've used Goof Off before on my stained stamps, but I've also heard Simple Green cleans stamps unbelievably. I would think it'd work on the brayer as well. My Paisley BG got stained this weekend from Elegant Eggplant, so I'm gonna be cleaning right along with ya!!!
I have two brayers because of this, one for dark inks, one for light inks. I have taken and washed my stained one in the sink with soap and water to make sure it is cleaned off.

You could try mean green, stazon cleaner or of course, Ultra clean- (this one cleans anything!)

I got my brayer stained too with reverse stamping and nothing will take it off. I used Stazon ink and have tried Simple Green, the Orange cleaner, Ultra Clean and Stazon remover and nothing takes it all off. It seems like that is a different kind of rubber. I am just not going to worry about it. It won't affect using it in the future again.

Yup - the black ink will stain - but will not re-deposit on to another color later as long as you washed it well with soap & water. It doesn't look pretty but it should be just fine. Just like a stained stamp - still works just fine & doesn't cause any problems.
The best stamp cleaner I have found is called Jazzy Cleaner. It can be ordered from http://www.stampingjazzystyle.com she dosen't have a shopping cart yet but you can call to order it from her. It works on every kind of ink out there and even has conditioners in it to help condition your stamps and brayers.

I did the same thing! SU! Black is some tuff stuff. I figured rather than dry out my rubber brayer and get it all cracked like, I would simply use one for light inks and one for darks, kinda like sorting laundry, but less bleach, lol!!

I had heard about Dawn Power Cleaner and used that -- it worked well. I have had trouble finding it again. So I found something called Easy Off "BAM" stain remover. I just used it on a badly stained stamp and it looks nearly new. I know that the staining doesn't hurt anything, but it just doesn't make me happy. I put the "Bam" on and let it sit about 15 minutes then scrubbed with a toothbrush. I had to clean twice but it got it. Caution: try not to let it get on the sticker for the stamp. I will usually use a regular cleaner afterwards to condition the rubber.
Hi we get a cleaner called "Awesome" at our local dollar store and it even takes the black off the rollers. I just fill a tall glass jar with the cleaner enough to cover the roller and leave it soak for a few hours, my up line has left hers in it overnight and it really gets it clean without any damage to the roller.
I have used "Kiss-Off" Stain Remover to clean my Basic Black stained stamps with much success. I dampen the stamp with water, add a small amount of "Kiss-Off" with an old toothbrush, let it set for a few minutes and rinse. I've found "Kiss-Off" at Michaels and some art supply stores.
Try using natural lomon essence, the sort we here is Australia is called "Queen, Natural Lemon Essence" costs 92 cents, it will remove permanent black marker from benchtops etc so it should work on your brayer. Being a newby to SU I don't have a brayer yet but I do find that the black ink sticks to some of my stamps so I use essence on them & it's fine, then I clean off with my sray & dry. Good Luck!

I shop there, too! How did you find out about her all the way in Las Vegas? I know about Stamping Jazzy Style because she's just a few miles from my house. And I agree - she's got the best stamp cleaner! She has lots of cool glitter, too!

Sorry - I realized after I posted that I totally hijacked. Not very nice of me.
I have heard that stampin up's "YO-YO Yellow" Ink is a great cleaner for dark stains on stamps. Don't ask how or why...it just works! Go figure! You will want to dedicate it to cleaning only though!

I agree - AWESOME cleaner is only $1 & it really gets your stamps clean of the black ink. I had not thought to try it on my brayer - good idea!
Don't waste $$$ when you can try AWESOME from the dollar store. It works & is gentle. Good luck with the brayer!

A student of mine told me about a wheel cleaner you get from Wal-Mart in the automotive section. It is called Super Clean All Wheel Cleaner, Spray and Rinse formula. It comes in a big purple spray bottle. I tried it and it works better than any stamp cleaner on the market that I have ever used! It even removed old Staz-on stains from stamps that I thought were as clean as they were going to get after some very hard use in class! Plus, since it is made to clean rubber (tires), it won't hurt your stamps (It hasn't hurt mine so far). She said a nationally known stamp teacher told her about in a class, but I don't remember who she said the teacher was.
I don't know why I didn't think of tire cleaner right off the bat, cause DH uses it all the time on his motorcycle and truck tires and they always look beautiful. Now I will ask DH if I can borrow his! Hummm.
[quote=boydonthehill;3405618]I used a rubber brayer to make a reverse image. The image came out great... but it won't come off my brayer! The ink was the regular SU black.
I've just cleaned some inky stamps with clean cooking or salad oil. Maybe you could do the same with your brayer. Put a small quantity of the oil in a shallow container and roll the brayer around in it and leave for for a few hours, just roll the brayer in the oil coating every now and then. Leave overnight even; the oil won't hurt, it should just 'condition' the brayer.
Then remove from the oil and remove the remaining oil from the brayer with paper towel before giving a wash in warm soapy water and drying again.
Okay, I went and got the Awesome cleaner from the dollar store as I recently bought 2 used stamps and have not been able to get them to come clean. sasykatgr & stampinstahl, do you dilute it first or use it full strength?
Thanks,
Rachael
