Okay, just bought my Cuddlebug at Michaels and so excited to play but I feel like I am going to break something. I bought an embossing folder (background). I put the paper inside the embossing folder put a (B) cutting pad on top and one (B) underneath. Then Added my spacer (A) underneath them all. When I go to turn the handle I feel like I am going to have to force it and it might break! If I don't use the (A) spacer it's too lose and doesn't make contact. Do I force the handle or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any feedback!

I am not an expert. I have only run a few things through my CB. If you are following the pictures in the instruction manual, you should be fine. I noticed that when it comes out the other side, it kind of points upward because it has been under such pressure as it goes through. After all, the pressure is what does it!
As long as you are putting the folder in between the correct plates than you should be fine. I know mine starts up a little hard and I remember feeling as though I was going to break it but I didn't. You will be fine once you have run your folder through just one time.
Be brave! Worst case, if you break it, they'll have to replace it for you. :-) There is a lot of information on the Cuttlebug FAQ thread in the Tools Forum, or ask on the Cuttlebugitis thread.
It will be fine. Sometimes when I am using a diecut I hear kind of a cracking sound, but my plates are just fine, just very scratched up from lots of use. I can't quit playing!

That's such a scary sound! I think there should be a warning on the box or somewhere in the instructions to prevent new users from having heart attacks!
I have to say reading the thread Amy mentioned above really helped me - I was prepared for the cracking sound, prepared for the possibility of my B plate cracking (and what to do if it did, which it hasn't I'm happy to say) and invested in new B plates during the Joannes 40% sale so I have some spare.
There is a ton of good information in there. I would totally recommmend it
Although it is scary, if you consider that it wouldn't make much of an impression on the paper if there wasn't some oomph (my technical term) to it as it goes through the machine, we wouldn't use it. It needs to be tight to make the impressions and cuts we expect to come out on the other side. That being said, I...well...mentally freaked out (inside my head) when I used a die-cut for the first time and saw the shapes etched in my plate...lol.
Yes, indeed, that little "cracking" sound is scary. I have used mine quite a bit now, and it seemed to loosen up a little with use. It doesn't make quite as scary of a sound.
I am very timid about mechanical things, and I'm always afraid I am going to break them.
When I was a little girl my dad sent me to unlock the car door, and I broke the key off in the lock. I think it traumatized me forever!

OK...I checked out this site to see all the embossing folders and dies. I was surprised to see a large circle, but not an oval. Does anyone know it they make an oval? I am so challenged in cutting with CM or Coluzzle, and the Giga Oval is not big enough for what I want to do. Thanks. :-) LM

If you're looking for Dies for the Cuttlebug machine. You might want to check on Ebay... I just found some embossing folders that you can't find in the stores.
There are other Online stores that sell Dies and Embossing folders too.
I just looked up Cuttlebug in a google search. So there are ton's of places to buy from: Cuttlebug search link Just click on the link and it will show you all the places.
