I really want to buy some Paper Trey Ink 110 lb cardstock. I have each of SU! colors in cardstock, ink, reinkers etc. but I would love to try PTI as well. I want to get cardstock that will coordinate nicely with the SU colors I have. I am a bit overwhelmed with the PTI selection and I was hoping that some of you have already found colors that match nicely.
Also, I just wanted to make sure I am seeing the prices correctly. It seems you get 24 sheets of PTI for $5.00 and 24 sheets of SU for $6.95. Is PTI really $2.00 cheaper than SU! for much thicker cardstock? Sounds like a pretty good deal. It seems like their matching ribbon is cheaper too. Hope the quality is good. I think I will order some of that to try as well.

The quality is GREAT! Super thick and the matching ribbon and buttons are wonderful. Just try a few colors that you like, I mix them in with my SU cardstock and dsps. My favorites of the PTI colors are the greens. You are right, the price is good and if you order enough (I think $60, maybe) shipping is free, which is great on heavy paper.

I agree with Kathleen. The quality is excellent! I would suggest maybe buying the sampler first. It has 50 sheets and you can pick your favorites without spending a bunch of money.
I have tons of SU paper but still like PTI paper just as well.
Here's a link to color comparisons that Nichole Heady, the lead designer and co-owner of Papertrey Ink, has done over time: {capture the moment}: color comparisons. The most recent comparisons are the exclusive Papertrey colors, but if you go back in time (before they offered as many colors), you'll find SU colors included. It's really useful information, and I agree with Dee that the sampler pack (which does not include every color) is a fun way to try out colors.
You can also get the packages of 12 sheets for $3, which is nice if you would like to have the variety without committing to the larger packages and expenditure. All of their products are terrific!
Did anyone answer the quality comparison with SU yet? I think it is definitely better and since it is less expensive, go for it. The only "downside" that I can see is that they have had problems with their matching ink - and that seems to be the only sticking point. They are coming out with matching ink now - so that issue will be a non-issue soon. (and isn't' an issue to me in the first place - I don't like SU's ink)
Love PTI paper, but can't compare it to SU because I don't own any of that.
My faves? Stampers Select White, Vintage Cream, Berry Sorbet (yum!), Kraft, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Lemon Tart, Ocean Tides, Sweet Blush, Spring Rain. Oh, heck, I love all the colors! I first started out with the sampler pack.
And tonight, they're releasing their new inks in 4 colors. And if I understand correctly, they'll be releasing 4 colors each month.
I love their coordinating ribbons and buttons.

Here's another thought if you're interested in seeing the PTI colors, they have a color swatch book. The intention of it is to choose colors to work with together. And the colors can be trusted. No reason you couldn't start there and compare the swatches to your SU stock.

Does PTI tend to keep their solid colors for a long time?
I really dislike the idea of "discontinued" colors. I don't mind it so much with prints but I like to think of solids as a staple that I can replenish as needed.

Good question. I would like to know this as well. I have a ton of discontinued colored SU! ink pads and reinkers that that is one of the reason I am trying to find other companies who might have cardstock to closely match it. I am not excited about buying PTI's new ink to match their perfectly matched cardstock line just to have them stop selling the paper and I would be stuck with yet more useless ink pads.

So far, PTI hasn't discontinued any colors. That being said, they've only been selling paper and ink for about 3 years, so who knows what's going to happen down the road.
Just be mindful that the shipping times can be longer than with other companies and they have had some customer service issues lately.

Shipping takes longer especially at release times (the 15th of every month). But if you order 10-14 days after the release, you will get your order much quicker. I placed an order a couple of weeks ago and got it in 3 days.
I've ordered from them for 3 years now, and have only had a couple of problems which were resolved quickly and very much to my satisfaction. Am not aware of any current problems they're having.

PTI's cardstock is fabulous! You won't regret purchasing any of it. With a first order, definitely get white, cream and kraft. They are thick enough to stand up on their own as a card base. SU's white and cream used as card bases aren't sturdy enough to stand on their own. Because I like having a full spectrum of every color imaginable, I still occasionally buy SU's colors, but will never again buy their white or cream.
PTI has stated regarding their stamps that they don't plan to have any retirements. I can only assume that holds true for paper as well.
If I remember correctly, when PTI started, the other two owners besides Nichole were part of a family printing business. Maybe that has something to do with the good prices on excellent cardstock.
As was mentioned, shipping in the US is free if you order $60. The cardstock is packaged with cardboard strips to protect the edges. They have such huge release-time orders that shipping is slower for a week or so after the 15th of every month. However, if I order during the other 3 weeks of the month, the order is usually shipped the next business day, by priority mail.

I, too, had no idea which shades to start out with, so I ordered the sample as this poster mentioned. It's a great deal, and I was SO impressed with the quality of the cardstock. I'm still using it, but now I am seeing which colors I have already used up and ordering those shades. The sampler is a great way to start.
I usually place my PTI orders just before release night on the 15th. I ordered a supply of paper and got it 4 days later. You won't regret ordering their paper...or anything else for that matter. Happy Shopping!
