Does anyone know if there is anything else that works like it. I know they sell refills, but I was thinking I could find something cheap that would do the job! Any help is appreciated!
Today I lost mine and my dh found it for me - right in front of me! I would think that a piece of a transparency would work. Also, they used to sell a product that was like the stampamajig and it had thin copy type paper with it. It was like a tissue paper. You just threw away the paper after using it. Good luck.
I use transparency film with Staz On. Instead of stamping the image and cleaning the sheet each time, I just make a permanent one that I keep in the box with the stamps. (Make sure that if you cut the film that it is square in the corner where you put it in the stampamajig.) Whenever I want to align, I already have the image stamped on the plastic. It is a time saver.

This is a great idea for all those stamps that need the SAMJ. Thanks for the tip.
I use quilter's template plastic and I also make permanent templates that I keep in the box with the stamps. I cut the plastic into squares (they have to be very straight) with the paper cutter.

I do the same as LindyLou - use the vellum cardstock (much sturdier than vellum paper) and just store it in the box with the stamps. I started that after I also lost my SAMJ plastic sheet...later to be found sitting right where it was supposed to be.
You can use stencil material, too. Blank stencil material is usually in the section with the stencils in the craft store. It's so funny, I keep a permanent one in the box w/ my SU ones, too! Great minds really do think alike!

Awesomely terrific idea!!!! I haven't even used mine yet and was wondering how "good" the ink washed off the plastic. I scored a box of sheet protectors that I don't care for (open on two sides instead of just the top), now I know what I can use them for.
Did you find it yet? I've lost mine on my desk.....so when I found it again I outlined in with a permanent marker ( pick a color different from your desk top!
and I also borrowed one of my kids tiny stickers that I stuck in the middle or where you are least likely to stamp so I could see it on my desk.
Also if you use permanet ink / markers on the plastic and need to change the stamp or whatever you could always wipe it with a cotton ball or makeup pad with nail polish remover over it.
Hope that helps! and yes, I still have my original one.... I eventually find it...! thanks for sharing the idea of using transparency film or that plasict stuff from the kids toys@!

Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only person who did this! LOL It has definitely helped to keep my sheet from "disappearing", too. ;) I also really like your idea about running a marker along the edge! Very smart!
I have been tossing around the transparency/StazOn idea for a while now and recently invested in a pack... we'll see if I ever remember to use them! LOL
This happened to me not to long ago and I have the extra sheets. I actually had a piece of plastic from a shrink sealed flashlight or something. Those packages from the store that you literally have to take the scissors and cut down the side to get the product out. I cut one side with the scissors then cut the rest with the cutter so I had a least two sides that were workable. It worked great.
As soon as I find my other sheets, though, I am punching a hole in one side and looping a long piece of eye catching ribbon through it so I never have to hunt the things down again.

I made extra transparencies out of a gift box that was given to me. My husband gave me a nifty set of garden tools that came in a large box that had a clear plastic insert that made up almost the entire lid of the box. I removed the plastic and used my paper cutter to cut it into small pieces that I could use with my SAMJ. I used Staz on ink and store them with the stamps sets. I'll bet you could use page protectors too.
LOL at myself... I lose my sheets every day. I try to remember to leave something stamped on them so I can find them - then realize I just cleaned the whole sheet again (oh darn)!

I use the little paper sheets that you can get at the beauty supply for permanents. they have about 500 or so in a package. You just like it up like you would the plastic and stamp your image. I just keep the little sheets in with my stamps' container and all I have to do is put it in the corner of the stamp-a-jig and I'm ready to go. I can also use the piece of paper to decide where I want it on my project and then line up the stamp-a-jig to the corner. works every time.

I use the clear sheets that come with some of the sticky-backed decorations, jewels, etc. that you can get a Michael's or Joanne's...they are sturdy enough to wipe clean and toss after a few stamping sessions. There are many great ideas here!
I save any plastic packaging that comes in toys that I buy for my granddaughters. I cut it and stamp permanent images and keep them in the box with the stamps. So when your kids are tearing through all those Christmas gifts - grab that plastic!

I'm going straight down to my craft room right now and doing this! (providing I can find the darn thing :rolleyes
The crop-o-dile should be perfect for this.
For small images, I've used the clear mounts for the $1 stamps from Michael's. For larger ones, I have a clear mini-clipboard that I bought at Walmart to hold my cards when I'm heat embossing them. I've also used the plastic report covers (the ones that have the slide-on edge). They're cheap and like other have said, you can store them with the stampset.
You could use vellum, a transparency or even cut up a report cover and use that. You can get report covers pretty cheaply. I know people that use vellum and stamp in a permanent ink and keep that . piece of vellum inside the case of their stamp set and use it over and over again with that set.
