Question Help with Coluzzle

Hi:

I need help using my Coluzzle. I misplaced the instructions and need assistance. Should the knife be able to move slightly in and out? While trying to use it, I am scratching the template...is this normal use? Please advise....

Thank you,
Sheryl

That's not normal. Check the cutting end of your of your cutter to see if it's screwed all the way into the handle. Also, are you using the white foam sheet under your paper? When you cut the knife should be straight up and down, and the pointed end should poke into the paper first. I believe JulieHRR described it like a foot...the toes should go in first. Also, there are tons of instructions/tips for the Coluzzle in the Techniques forums...just do a search for Coluzzle. HTH.

the most common mistake I see is that the almost clear (kinda milky) plastic layer needs to be taken off your Coluzzle templates first. The template should be clear like glass if you have the plastic off, if it isn't then scrap the template with your fingernail and you should be able to pull off the plastic layer.

I have also found with the Coluzzle, (this worked much better for me, since I struggled with it in the beginning) is start from the right side of the shape and work backwards, (right to left), and keep your wrist straight, let the blade move with the template.

Does this make sense? I used to start on the left side and work towards the right, and my blade skipped and I would scratch the template every time. I havent done that since doing it this way. ;)

Thanks eversomuch for your replies. I wasn't using the spongy mat and I was not cutting straight up and down. I also have to remove the coating. on the templates.

Thanks again,
Sheryl
