For all of you that have been looking for a way to store your ribbon in a more strudier fashion, I found Snapeware: ribbon dispenser today at Target.
Since it is a holiday item, it was 50% off, making it 5.99 plus tax. It holds about 18 spools of grosgrain ribbon, I bought five and the are all stacked on top of each other, making it very compact!
I love it. If I can, I will upload a photo tomorrow.
Don't wait as the Christmas stuff is on clearance.

Ribbon
I saw these this morning in the flyer for Target! I bet by the time I get there this week they will all be gone! I have a bum "wheel" right now due to surgery and I can't drive so I am at the mercy of someone taking me! My son has to work the next few days! Ugh!
Glad to hear that they work though!

I will have to go back and check. I was told they were 12.00 (bad info), so thanks for the heads up on the current sale. I will go back with my reciept and get some cash back.

I ran to Target right after I saw this post. They were on sale for $4.99 ( + I got my daughters 15% employee discount!) I came home and organized all my ribbon right away. Wow! What a difference they make! You can stack/snap several of them together. I connected 5 of them. Then I used the bottom sections and snapped them all togther to sort my other embeleshments.
I don't know. I bought two of these last year, but found them limiting (although the price IS great). They don't hold a lot, and unless completely full, the spools shift into each other. Another problem: while I like that the ribbon was fed into a slot (to help keep it smooth when unrolling some to use), the slots were of a predetermined size, which wasn't necessarily the size of my ribbons. I ended up taking a pair of scissors and cutting the plastic between them. I ended up not using it for my ribbon. I am a school librarian, and I took one Snapware to work to feed book labels through, but its limitations drive me crazy.
A much better bet (though more expensive!) is the Craft Locker ribbon holder. Ribbon is tilted forward so it doesn't slide back and forth (you do need to fill each shelf full, or else put in something as a spacer) and there is no need for a dowel to hold them, so you could take off an idividual roll if needed. The ribbon is fed through a slot, so that keeps it from tangling.
Best of all, the Craft Locker has panel doors that can close (keeping out light that will fade ribbon over time--yes it will--this is years of museum background speaking!) or be pushed inside and out of the way, a carrying handle, and all of the Craft Lockers are interchangeable with the many drawers offered. I have a ribbon locker and 2 wheel lockers.
Regarding SU!'s ribbon holders, the feelings on Stampin' Discuss were mixed--people either loved them or hated them (they are flimsy, I guess).
I agree about the grosgrain ribbon spool being to big. They would be great if it wasn't for that. That company also makes a great 12x12 holder with a handle and 2 pieces that snap together. Are those on sale?
