I just purchased GHF machine and I can say how disappointed I am in it.
I purposely waited to get it to see how it works. I watch several videos from all the established professional card makers.
I guess my dream was for it to work on watercolor paper, and add a beautiful sentiment on my card creations. But how very disappointed I was when it didn’t even work on this paper! It only works on very smooth cardstock. I have packed it back up, ready to return it. How sad I am.

It will not work on watercolor paper. The best paper that has worked for me is Hammermill and some Gina K. Kristina Werner used Concord and 9th and hers looked great. Your sentiments would be better on the smooth cardstock and mounted to your WC cards. Glad you figured out it is not a good fit for you before purchasing a lot of plates.
Oh darn it!
I don't know the Glimmer, but several people say you can do it on WC paper-did you see these? Maybe which WC paper you use matters? Like the smooth kind? You said you watched some vids?
If the Yana video doesn't work for you, try the Hot Stamping Playlist of Yana's. That is where I find everything that she uses the Glimmer Machine for.
