Default Glimmer vs Foil Press

I own a gemini foil press and the platform is warping. I own a spellbinder's platinum 6. I am considering switching to a glimmer. My question is does the Glimmer platform warp? And any other concerns about the glimmer are welcome.

I have not had any issues with the Spellbinder Glimmer, warping or otherwise. I love it and think it's a great machine. I think you can buy replacement platforms for the Gemini Foil Press though. It might be a less expensive option.

I'm on my second replacement platform for the gemini....that's why I want to switch. Thanks for answering!

Default Problems with Glimmer

I damaged mine on first use using a foiling die I had inherited from another person. I used a bigshot and there was obviously too much pressure. A very, very expensive mistake. Not used it since .....

I have the Glimmer which I use with my Sizzix Vagabond 2 and it works perfectly with no warping. The only issues I had early on were user error and I have a couple of plates that were foiled instead of the paper! LOL No damage though and nothing has been replaced in over a year of regular use.

It might be too late for your gemini foil plate, but try warming it up and running it thru your gemini Jr upside down a few times so the plastic plate on the bottom. I saw that in a video somewhere and it definitely helped with mine. Now when I’m done foiling, I run it thru once upside down and store it upside down too.

I also have a plate that got foiled. It looks so pretty now! Lol. I was actually thinking of doing it to all my hot plates so that if I'm in a group of other paper crafters that were sharing mine would stand out amongst the others. I could just put a label on them but foiling them would be prettier

I hot foil so rarely that I have to relearn each time. I have made my plates so pretty placing the foil in the wrong direction.

Thanks for sharing what works for you. But it’s the heated part that this warping.

The heated part is what I was talking about. Just flip the heat platform and plastic plate over and run them thru the gemini jr upside down while still warm. Then store them upside down, too.
