Yay! I think I finally found my solution to unmounted. And no more EZ mount. (I'm too lazy). I went naked. Tried the Aileen's Tack it Over and Over on several stamps and it works fab! I have so many stamps, I can't see myself needing to re-tack them very often. It's going to take a while to unmount, but I am doing everything, including my new order from SU! that I'm getting on Sunday.
I would like to do this, but i have no idea where to start. I have all SU stamps and they are just getting tooooo bulky for storage.
I warm the stamp in the microwave for a bit (depends on how strong your microwave is); for me...about 10 seconds? then I gently pull off the rubber. If it is still sticky, I take my adhesive remover I bought from SU! and rub that over the rubber to take off any residual stickiness. Then I smear the Aileen's Tack it Over and Over and let it dry. I then take the rubber and press it in my palm, lifting it up and pressing it down again. This is to remove some of the excessive stickiness.
You are now ready to go! I store the rubber in CD cases and stamp with the rubber using acrylic blocks.

HTHs!
Do they loose their "bouncyness" (If that is a word LOL)
I'm still unmounting my stamps, and I use the TOI&O.
I stamp the image on transparency sheets with stazon before unmounting. After the glue is dry on the back of the naked stamps, I stick it on the sheet behind it's corresponding image. I can get at least two sets on one full transparency. I store them in page protectors; for now, they're in a box but I'm going to eventually get a three-ring binder to put them in.
I love my unmounted stamps! When I get new SU stamps, I put the indexing sticker on the sticky part of the foam (sticky side of foam to sticker) so I have an image I can see through my acrylic block. Then I put the Tio&o on the sticker.
Can I make a suggestion that is even lazier than using tack it over and over glue. Get some tack n peel and put it on your acrylic blocks. Then you don't even have to have the tack it over and over on the rubber and you can just slap the stamp right on.

Hey, me too, lol! Denise, I actually started using the Aleene's years ago, because I refused to spend extra money...that was the reason I'd gone with um's to begin with, they were cheaper! Even that, though, tries my patience a bit too much. Now I love the Tack n Peel...treat the blocks rather than each and every stamp!
Either way, I just love using nekkid stamps, lol...SO quick to use and easy to clean!
I'll be thinking of you going through your stacks of sets as you unmount...I have a few hundred or more (sets, that is) to get through myself! Enjoy...

I'd love to skip the EZ mount but..... I have cats and I live on a street that has two houses currently being built. I worry about the fur and dust on the ATIO&O. Any insight into those issues? TIA.
I do dust & vacuum weekly and we use hepa filters on the vacuum & furnace but this is the dustiest house we've ever lived in. I swear I could dust daily.

I've used the same system, after experimenting with leavin the foam on stamps, I finally went bared nekked to rubber and tack it over & over glue & I love it!
I have 3 cats and a dog and I haven't noticed any cat hair or dust on my sticky. I have all mine stored in CD cases on shelves over my stamping table. I have carpeting in the basement where this all takes place, maybe that makes a difference.
The one thing I like about going with just the rubber is that I can trim pretty close to the images and do a better job trimming!
can anyone tell me if i can get the tack it over and over stuff at walmart? Or Joannes? I am going to both of those stores tonight. Where exactly would i find it. do i need anything else?
How do you get the foam away from the rubber stamp?

This is exactly what I do.:-D

taiboo- if you take off the foam from the rubber, and put aleene's tack it over and over on the back and let it dry, then you can just put them on a acrylic block when you need to, and then just store them however you choose. I just unmounted almost all the stamps that I have and absolutely love it. I store them in cd cases and then put them in shoe boxes from ac moore. You can store them differently if you choose to though. Some store them in binders. PM me if you have any questions
Could some one please tell me why does the foam need to be taken off the rubber? can it not stay on and be used with the acrilic blocks? I would also like to get rid of the wood but if I don't need to take the foam off I would like to leave it on as a time saver.

I think that some take off the foam because more stamps will fit in a CD case without it.
I have bought cling material that I put on the sticky cushion, and then they cling to the acrylic block.
There was a suggestion above about putting the index (image) sticker on the sticky part of the cushion, then using Tack'n'Peel on the blocks to keep the stamp on the block.

I sooooo appreciate your help with this...I am trying it as we speak..QUESTION - How do you get it away from the rubber without it being all sticky, I am trying to use an eraser to get the "sticky" part off and it just isn't working.

Couldn't agree more - that stuff is awesome! You can now buy it Joann's, so grab a coupon and make the investment :p (I use a couple strips of mono in my CD cases to keep the rubber in place - I won't use the stuff on my cards anymore, but it works pretty well for this application)

OK, did this with the foam on...i put the sticker on the sticky part of the foam and put the Tack it over and over stuff on the sticker...I let it dry, put it on the acrilic block and stamped away, pealed it off the block, put in a CD case...OMG
I am pretty new to stamping and am having a difficult time understanding what the exact steps are in removing the stamps from the wood mounts. Does anyone have a tutorial or video? Your written instructions are good but when you are new and don't really understand them - I need visuals if anyone can help.
Thanks.

I have been gradually going back to using Aileen's. I am getting tired of putting double-stick tape on the acrylic blocks. It lasts quite a while but is messy to clean up. Besides, the blocks look "prettier" without gunky tape.

I have 4 dogs and 4 cats (all inside pets) and I haven't had a problem with pet hair yet! I store mine on photo album pages cut down to fit in 1/2 of a 6x9 envelope in snap boxes.

I don't have visuals but it really is very simple. Basically you put the stamps in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to reheat the glue then just peel the rubber off of the foam. Sometimes it is easier to peal the foam off the wood first then heat them for another 10 seconds and peal the foam and rubber apart.
Does Aileen's TIOO leave a sticky residue on the acrylic blocks? I recently unmounted my stamps and found that there was a lot of stick on the foam when I took them off the block. I thought this would be great - no EZ mount - just use the sticky foam to hold them onto my blocks. Well, I really don't like the sticky residue that is getting on my blocks from the foam.:( Pleeeease tell me Aileen's doesn't leave a sticky residue!!!!
I too had originally left my foam on when I could but now found it to be too cumbersome- especially since it leaves a residue on my transparency sheets that I store mine on.
Oh, I am so glad to hear there is no sticky residue with Aileen's!!! I'm off to try a set like this. I love my unmounteds, but I didn't want to do all that expensive and time-consuming and sticky work of putting all that rubbah on EZ mount.
I wonder....if I run it through my Xyron with the repositionable cartridge of sticky in there...if that would work. Maybe I'll try it on one of the stamps that I don't particularly like..because I wonder what clean-up would be like if it didn't work...just talking out loud to myself here really. LOL
I put up a quick tutorial about how to use the tack n peel on my blog. I would suggest using the links above in order because I'm super new to the blogging world and put them in backwards. For those worried about pet hair it washes right off with no problems. I live with two kitties on a regular basis and one is a long hair.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here-not trying to start anything-but I must not be as steady-handed as you all are. I need my wooden blocks. I know they are bulky and you definitely can't see through them, but they help me get cleaner images. Maybe I'm just not experienced enough.
I've tried Aileen's tack it over and over this weekend, and I like it. BUT it's going to be a lot of work. And I'm not too keen on the idea of putting glue on the back of the stamp (don't know why I have an issue with that after I've ripped it off of its wooden block, then torn the foam off of it. Guess we all have our quirks!!:p ). I may have to try the tack-n-peel. That's looking like an easy way out!!!
I find that my images from bare rubber are just as clear as with the wooden blocks. Maybe I just don't have a very critical eye... I do prefer rubber over clear polymer for images that are solid or have thick lines. I'm still learning how to use those. But as far as rubber, I personally see no difference when I use them.
loved all the comment, but I must say that I have not jumped into unmounted ALL my stamps, because I have heard that they are not as easy to sell, when the time comes. I sell sometimes on ebay and haven't even tried to sell used unmounted stamps. I just decide if I really need to keep the stamp, and sell it or not - running out of room. Maybe that is not an issue for most of you, but something I heard about and am thinking about.
I use the tack and peel, and love it the best. Gin
