I don't know if it can be fixed, but I would buy a new one. Use the old one for cleaning black ink stain off of your stamps. I have a big, black X across my "cleaner" Yoyo Yellow.

rub the ink pad on a clean piece of paper over and over (using a clean area of the paper each time) until the other colour is gone. Then re-ink the pad.
It may remain stained, but as long as no more of the other colour is coming off, the pad is fine to use. This happens a lot.
I had someone stamp blue or purple on my pretty in pink one night. I rubbed as much of the color off as I could using baby wipes. Then I rinsed it in the sink until as much of the dark color came out. Let the water drain off and dry enough that it's not dripping wet. Then re-ink. It will take quite a bit of refill but it will work.
Good luck!

How we know it was mold for sure was because I was stamping at my friend's house. Her hubby is a scientist for a university near here. He sniffed it and was sure it was something growing so he made a slide and sure enough.
If you think it is a mold or bacteria growing, get rid of it so it does not spread to other supplies.
Thanks dot2dot for more interesting information. I can always count on you to provide something would have never thought of. What kind of discount stamps and supplies create mold in your ink?
They are invisible. You would never even see them. They are everywhere in our environment. Anything that is moist and closed (like a stamp pad) has the potential to grow them. Many Versamarks look a little green for this reason. You can see it on the lighter pads like this and on yellow.
Oh my goodness...after reading baout the YoYo Yellow potential mold problem....I ran to my stamp room to check mine.....There was Mold everywhere.....but only on my SU stuff! What is a stamper to do! hee hee hee
Moisture and spores are required. Spores are also in the air we breathe. If something is dark (like a closed pad) the potential is always there. Some things grow mold easier than others due to environmental factors and chemical composition.
Am I missing something that you guys think SU is more prone to it than other products?
Why does Yo Yo Yellow clean basic black off of stamps?
I have no idea WHY or HOW it works, but virgin stamps used with Basic Black and then rubbed immediately after use against Yo Yo Yellow, lifts the stain off.
I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself, so I bought one Yo Yo for stampin', and used my old one for cleaning Basic Black!
Works great!
With some work, I've been told it can remove "old" BB stains, but I haven't tried that yet. But, it's a great way to prevent your new stamps from becoming stained.

My DS..who is two opened up the silver embossing powder all over my Almost Am. so I rinsed it off with regular water and reinked it. You should be able to get the ink transfer off of it...which is probably what it is. You might want to make sure you stampin' scrub is clean, that is where I have had troubles with transfer in the past.
OK- This has to be the most preposterous thing I have heard in a long and i mean long time. Who in the world would even think to say that a pad would have mold on them. This must be some kind of prank.
From the original post i took it as there was black ink or a dark ink that got on the original poster's pad. then to later go down the thread and see mold. Pahhhhhllllleeeeeaaasss. Give me a break-
Maybe we should send this one to Andy Rooney!!
****And just on the off chance that you had a friend of a friend of a friend who knew this guy who's girlfriends aunt knew this woman from yoga class who's 2nd cousin 2x removed had a sister-in-law that this happened to ****chances are it's an urban legend!!!****

Yes, yes...it is a preposterous notion...that's why I like that "ignore" list...so I can protect myself from all forms of insanity that seem to pour from the same source...just sayin'... ;) And now, I shall invoke my "ignore" list on someone...and it ain't you, stampinami...

Ummmmmm,,, perhaps this has something to do with licking your stamps to clean them and then using your stamp pads.. this was a question on another thread not too long ago. It wouldnt be very sanitary to clean your stamps that way. ickkkkkkkkkkkk,,,

oops here I am again my mouth is way too big Not to say anything! This is no slam to original poster because I too have had my yoyo yellow turn dark, but realized I wasn't thoroughly cleaning my stamps before putting them in yo yo yellow so this is not about that -- that is a valid question.
But dot2dot are you messing with us, your a writer, a psychologist of sorts, a taxedermist, and you live amongst scientists. Give me a break-- you have to be messing with us-- who knows you may be a very sweet lady, but YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! Your like one of Charlie's Angels or something! I suppose your going to tell us you fly planes next. I am sorry for being so blunt but ......lets be real. I know I can not be the only one thinking this. I am sure I will be in trouble for this but its getting thick.
Ok, here I am to change the subject (kinda) again. Is it just Yo Yo Yellow that cleans off basic black or any light color?!? Dye vs. pigment; will non SU! pads do the same thing (maybe a cheaper alternative)....
Well, see, I only wash my hands like once/month, and I change a LOT of diapers.... so I sometimes get poop streaks on my ink pads. And that could be the problem here too.
Of course, you might wash your hands more than I do?

*Note to self: Don't go to mamakimberly's for stamping--or have her over to my house without insisting on a thorough scrub with bleach*
LMAO!!!

I have a 10 yr old DS...somehow this doesn't really phase me.
Bahahaa... yeah, tonight I was over at Emily's house and I peed on her toothbrush. ;) Don't tell her though! She might be upset with me. She *thinks* I was just making sure my daughter was asleep. What she doesn't know won't hurt her (at least I don't think it will? will it??)...

*spew* oh wait, I shouldn't do that. I might spread mold spores around.
