You're welcome
Seriously, the Big Shot makes using the embossing plates SOOOOO easy, just roll it through. You will be embossing backgrounds ALL the time now ...Fiskars plates, Sizzix plates, Cuttlebug folders

I agree the Fiskars Texture Plates are cute, yet a lot of work. I've tried using them in my BigKick, but only got it to partially emboss on my cardstock (I covered the entire embossing surface). I don't know what I did wrong.
Anyway, does anyone have any tips for getting it to emboss completely?
I was able to place the Fiskars plates in my new cuttlebug and emboss background....But you do have to play with different combos of the plates..I ended up cutting up a freebie mouse pad and by using it as part of the sandwich was able to achieve the best results.

I also *severely disliked* my Fiskars plates, and even tried to sell them in a garage sale uber cheap, until I heard that the plates can go through my Big Shot.
They work great, and I love them now!!
I use the Fiskers Texture plates in the Spellbinder Wizard machine, you DO need the Embossing mats.....you can use any of the embossing plates from any company in the Wizard.
Oh yea one thing I found out with the Fiskers texture Plates you will get a much better embossing image if you mist the cardstock first, I just mist with water...but they make a paper glide to use also.

Oh....what a great idea to use a mouse pad....thanks so much for the tip! I don't have any of the Fiskars plates yet. I was going to buy some the other day, but I didn't. Now I think I might have to buy some and give it a try
To use the Fiskars texture plates in the Cuttlebug or BIGkick, you need to use the purple hard plastic and flexible rubber mat from the Sizzix Starter Kit. If you use craft foam or a mouse pad, you won't get the proper compresson needed.
Also, realize that the impression you get from the Fiskars texture plates will not be as defined as it is with the Cuttlebug embossing folders. Misting your cardstock first does help some, but still won't give as crisp an impression. I found the snowflake plate gives the poorest impression (that's just my personal observation).
Again, these are my opinons and ideas from using the machines and plates on a regular basis. Your findings and opinions may differ.
This is how I use my Fiskars Texture Plates with my BigKick:
From bottom to top:
MultiPurpose platform with no tabs
Fiskars texture plate
Cardstock
Squishy rubber mat from the Texturz starter kit
Solid black plastic plate from the Texturz starter kit
Depending on the impression I get, I sometimes add a sheet of cereal box cardboard or two.
Patti is right, the snowflakes plate doesn't work very well, no matter what you do with it; the others work pretty fine indeed.
I was able to get the Texturz starter kit at JoAnn's for 40% off; regular price is $19.99 and it not only comes with the two mats you need, but it comes with 3 more double-sided texture plates.
I read on a thread somewhere on SCS that if you run the Fiskars plates thru your Big kick or Big Shot (probably works the same on the CB) and then run them thru in reverse, (I guess you just back it thru again) you get a much better impression. Haven't tried it yet but was planning to the next time I used them.
Yes, I also run the Fiskars texture plates through my BIGkick and Cuttlebug at least twice (back and forth) to get a better impression. Just don't let the plates completely clear the rollers or it could slip and your impression would be distorted.
Also......I purchased my Sizzix starter kit over a year ago, both my plates are purple. I understand the color has changed since then.
To get a more enhanced texture from the texture plates (in Cuttlebug, etc.), spray the surface of the cardstock with rubbing alcohol and quickly empress it before the alcholol evaporates.
I got this tip from someone here on SCS many months ago and tried it with the Big Kick texure plates in the Cuttlebug (with squishy mat).It really does work!

I own the Texturz starter kit. I just sandwiched it in the reverse order. Gotta try this one!
Thanks Cheryl!
BTW--Where in the sandwich do you put the chipboard/cereal box cardboard? Is it on the top or bottom?

I do the same thing for my big shot but I use the Premium crease pad instead of the solid plastic plate. I find I get a better impression that way.

Don't know if anyone answered already but the plates DO work in the cuttlebug too! You need to buy an embossing stack (I think it's from Spellbinders) but check out the cuttlebug FAQ and find the link to the 'sandwich stacks' and you're in business!
