Has anyone gotten these to work? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a pic) I just picked one up 1/2 off yesterday and tried it with 110 card stock, light card stock, and super-thin patterned paper. It cut the corner but hardly any embossing at all (and I did do the little "extra punch" that "makes the difference" according to fiskars). It's not even anywhere close to the picture they show!
I dont have that one but I have a few others of these punches. I have not used any of them...the Martha Stewart border punches are another story...love them.
Blessings.
i have the same corner punch/embosser.mine is a dud just like yours.it doesnt matter what type of paper i use, i get NO embossing at all. so i just use it for a corner punch only. wish i knew about this problem before i bought mine.
I am so glad to hear your comments. I picked up a Fiskars corner punch/embosser the other day at JoAnn's, but decided to put off the purchase even though I really wanted it. Now I feel better about not buying it and have no desire to purchase it now.
This is the greatest place for information. I have learned so much from all you talented ladies. Thanks.
I bought on! Wanted to use it on my wedding invites. The corner cutter works but the embossing thing will not work at all. :( It is a real bummer. I paid full price and can't take it back.
I had a couple and finally got rid of them. When I did manage to get some embossing, they got flattened when I used my tape runner along the back. Sigh.
I've had one for a couple of years, used it a couple of times and experienced the same issues you mentioned - cuts corners ok, but the embossing part barely shows up. I haven't bought anymore of this type regardless of who the manufacturer is.
I've tried a variety of the Fisker's border and corner punches and I'm NOT IMPRESSED. They have barely worked, broke after a few projects, etc.
Interestingly, a TON of them are $2-3 at a local dollar store (not an actual Dollar Store, but a privately-run dollar store). No surprise to me. I don't even want them for $2-3.
I haven't tried the Martha Stewart brand. May do so, as a few of you are giving it better reviews.
I haven't had luck with any of the Fiskers Punches. Martha's work great for me though! I'm sorry you had trouble too. It is frustrating to get a product and have it not work.
While I was at Michaels yesterday I found a couple new MS border punches...one was scallops with several different sizes of circles cut out along the border and other was a graceful large scallope type punch. I have a lot of her border punches and these I had never seen before. There was one other one that I saw and really liked but opted to wait on that one. I love new stuff.
Blessings.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't make it work!
I picked up the Martha Stewart Christmas Embossed Snowflake punch at Micheal's last night-sad to say, I couldn't get that one to emboss, either! Great, two returns!!! :(
