The classic scallops have larger scallops on them, whereas the petite scallops have much smaller scallops on them. The petite ovals are a skinner oval versus the classic ovals which are fatter.

As for the ovals, here are the sizes

Ovals Classic Large, plain:

1: 1x"
2: 1x1"
3: 2x1"
4: 3x2"
5: 3x2"

Ovals Classic Small, plain
1: x"
2: 1x1"
3: 2x1"
4: 2x2"
5: 3x2"

Ovals Classic Large Scallop:
1: 1x"
2: 1x1"
3: 2x1"
4: 3x2"
5: 3x2"

Ovals Classic Small Scallop:
1: x"
2: 1⅜x1"
3: 2x1"
4: 2x2"
5: 3x2"

I don't have the dimensions for the Petite's, I'm sorry. I hope this helped a bit. Happy Crafting!

Also- the place that I have found with the BEST prices on Nesties is Scrapbooking Alley, owned by Ritz Camera. Free shipping any size order, no sales tax, and fantastic prices.

Also, if I was buying a first set, I personally would buy the complete set of classic ovals. It is my go-to Nestie a lot. But I love nearly all my Nesties, so I am a bad one to ask!

Here is a wonderful visual guide to the Nesties on the Paper Trey Ink site:

Before you buy, check out the prices on ScrapbookingAlley.com. I found them to be less expensive than other places and with no shipping and sales tax charges they were really cheaper. I don't know the tax rate in your state, but in Tennesse it's 9.25%, so I really saved a lot on the orders I've received from them. I highly recommend them because they are very prompt in shipping. I placed an order on Friday and received it the following Wednesday via Fedex (I think they always use Fedex). I know of one place that sells the multiples (4 to a pack) for $80.00, and I paid less that $60.00.

Happy shopping.

I bought the sets of 4 from Scrapbooking Alley (Ritz Camera)........ was the best deal I could find....... There are 7 sets of 4....... Circles (2 different sets), Squares, Rectangles, Ovals, Petite Ovals, Large Rectangles

When you purchase this way, you get 2 duplicate Circle Sets, I put them on Craigs List and sold them for what i paid for them........ They are not speedy shippers tho :-)
