I finally got a Cropadile half price at Michaels today. First I used it on the wrong setting and crushed my eyelets. I was thinking what's the big hype about this, it kinda sucks. Then I actually read the back of the package and put it to the correct setting and WOW, I can't believe I was using that stupid hammer all this time! I'll really start using my hundreds of eyelets again!
So now my question for everyone who has had one of these forever... what else does it do?
I must be the only one that hates the Crop o dile. I have tried it every way I can think, even changing the settings as one person mentioned. I dislike the way it smashes the eyelet. I wish it could have been fluted to make cuts in the eyelet all the way around, it would lay flatter. It doesn't seem to make a difference in the hardness I push, it is just the design of the product. And nothing makes me madder than to ruin the work with a bad eyelet that is warped.

Just my honest opinion, had to share.

The eyelets that I bought have tiny little cuts on the bottom of them and that's where they split open. I haven't tried it with any other type of eyelet yet.
I had stopped using eyelets cause they were such a pain! Now that I have it, I put eyelets in almost everything!
One thing I have noticed is when I use cheap eyelets (from the dollar store), I have to use a much gentler hand, or they split. But my SU eyelets work fantastic. I also like that I can punch a clean hole through SEVERAL layers including fabric & chipboard with very little effort. I was worried when I got it because I have small hands and stubby fingers, but it's so easy to use.
I used my 40% off coupon at michael's to get it to boot!
I got mine a few months back, I love it to punch holes since you can see where you are punching. It punches through chipboard like a dream, fabric too as mentioned.

i have used it to punch through metal, foam board and will try wood soon! Love how easy it is to use and my daughter has used it also. Just have to be careful if you can't see where your fingers are when punching a hole..... I 'snapped' my finger in it.

I bought mine a couple of week ago at Michael's, using a 40% off coupon and it cost regular $39.95 (remember, we are in Canada) and thus was about $23.95 plus our 14% tax and I just love it.
It does a beautiful job, the hole punchers are great and really do cut through just about anything.
It does a great job of setting the eyelets I have.
I think I will work with mine some more. Maybe a different brand will work better. Thanks for the tips. I do like the power of the punch, I was thinking it would probably punch right through a magazine to put it in a binder. I haven't tried it on metal, but that would be cool to use on a page or card, it would look like it was riveted if you used a silver eyelet.
I just used mine to punch a hole in a piece of leather to do a repair on my hat. I also punched holes in a piece of metal to put a handle on my RV screen door. I can punch a hole clean through 17 layers of cardstock.
I used mine to punch holes for eyelets in a wooden "bag" from M's for my DD's Valentine's gift. It turned out so cute! I have also punched holes in metal buckets to put eyelets and ribbon through. Again, I thought it was very cute! Have fun with your crop-o-diles!!
I just got home from M's with my new CAD for 50% off. Now I'll play tonight to see how it all works. I have snaps that I've never used, maybe now I can use them.
