Favorite markers for directly coloring on rubber stamps?
I need to find some waterbased markers for coloring on the stamps, then stamping on the paper. I do not have any, and I need some. Looking for a reasonable price and good quality marker.
I have only ever used Stampin Up markers on stamps to ink them. I believe Marvy work well too. The trick is to "huff" on them after you color to remoisten them before you stamp it onto paper.
I have most of the marvy leplumes; got them in sets at Michaels and ACMoore using coupons. Excellent collection without too much expense. I use them to color stamps and also to do Artistic Impression's style waterpainting afterwards. I'm very happy with them. HTH
I also use Marvy markers to color on rubber stamps. They come in sets and there are many sets to choose from. I use the coupons and get from Michael's. These are the markers that Dee Gruenig uses on her rubber stamps (she has her own line of rubber stamps and markers by Marvy).
I'm the same as Kathy above...I have the SU marker set and love them. I have some others but always go back to my SU markers. The plus side is that you can reink them with the stamp pad reinkers if they start to run low.
The up front cost was higher, but my mom and a couple of friends put together a Marker Club. Each month or so we contributed $50 and we would order the marker set, and a full set of 12x12 SU cardstock. We would divide the set so we each got a color family and matching CS, and one person would be designated as "hostess" and recieve the benefits plus the carrier. Does that make sense? ;) In the end we ended up with a full set of markers and CS plus hostess goodies. It was fun.

I prefer Tombow Markers to the SU or Marvy markers because they are much more water soluble and moveable that the SU markers. SU markers are nice if you just want to do mulit-coloured images but they don't work well for watercolour effects. With the Tombow Markers you can huff or spritz with water and then stamp and after you stamp on watercolour paper you can take a brush and water and make the colours move on the paper to get mult-coloured and blended effects at the same time. I use both SU and Tombows and I think the price is about the same. Tombows may be a buck cheaper per marker.
I use SU! markers. I had some others, but got rid of them when I got my SU! markers b/c they do SUCH a great job and meet all of my needs. If I want to watercolor my image I sometimes use watercolor wonder crayons to color on the rubber, mist with water and stamp.

I like Tombows too. I have both SU and Tombow. Tombow have large selection of different colors available, much more than SU markers. I recently purchased additional Tombow markers from the Merriartist and the service was excellent with speedy shipping.
Does anyone who has the Stampin Up Markers (or other brands I guess) have problems with them STAINING their rubber stamps?? I have the ZIG markers and although I've only tried this two times, both stamps are stained now and I don't know what to use to clean the stains off??? Maybe this should be in another topic...but any comments would be appreciated. Anyone tried their favorite markers on acrylic stamps?? Thanks ALL...
