Apparently using fabric on cards is a new trend. I have never used it, but I can see the cost savings. Even if you pay full price for a Fat Quarter ( 18" x 22") at Joanns it is much cheaper than paper
Plus you can use the left overs for small sewing projects like patched work totes , etc.
Is anyone here using fabric on their cards ?
You can get even cheaper than that Barbara! Look at any clothes you might be about to toss and see what you can salvage. Shirts that have gone through at the collar or cuffs usually have plenty of sound fabric in the back and fronts, jeans with the knees or seat gone through have plenty in the leg etc - all free! Here are a couple of cards that use "rescued" fabric - denim just used like a paper layer on one and the other that uses shirt fabric and take advantage of the qualities of fabric itself.
You can stamp on it and cut it out too - on the ATC here I used a scrap of silk and stamped the ladies then coloured the dresses, stuck it to a sheet of double sided tape and cut them out to stick over an image stamped on plain card. Silk dresses!
WOW those cards are "very" creative!
I was just thinking of using fabric for layers . Your ideas of incorporating the fabric into the designs is fabulous
Thanks for sharing
Barbara
I love using fabric on cards! Before I started with rubber stamping, I sent out many Christmas cards with fabric trees and such, lol! I think since I used to do fabric applique work, it seemed a natural thing to do...
Another great way to get fabric is to look for outdated wallpaper books. I remember a time when I had a collection of 20 or so in all different kinds of themes...kids, manly, etc. The absolute best were the ones that also had the samples of matching fabric along with the paper. Tons of fun!

I've recently starting using ripped fabric as ribbon, and I really like the look of it. This will be the first time I have tried to upload a picture to a post, so I hope this works. Here is a card I recently made with fabric:
And I almost never get the machine out from under the desk! I need to learn to quilt. But for now, I just luxuriate in owning all this magnificent material!
