Can someone help me find a link to a tutorial on how to emboss with Nestabilities?
Thanks in advance!

Suzy, which machine do you have? I know there are some great videos on YouTube for the Wizard. Lauren Meader has a nice tutorial on her blog about the cuttlebug, and I think Nichole Heady does, too.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I have the Cuttlebug.
Renee, I'll be checking that blog. Thanks so much!

Question, is there a substitute for the tan embossing mat? My very first set of nesties should be in my hands TODAY! But I don't have the mat and of course don't want to have to wait to play with them. :(

Yes, there is a much more cost effective alternative, and you can get it at a hardware store, of all places! Look for the red rubber sheets in the plumbing section. I think they call it plumbers gasket. It's about a 7" square of red rubber. There are two thicknesses. I bought the thicker kind, but think the thinner would probably work better. It's less than $2 per sheet and works oh-so well!
To the OP: Check out the tutorials available at www.papertreyink.com. It contains links to a great post on Nichole Heady's blog about how to do this with the cuttlebug.
oh it figures! DH and I were just at Menards last night! It's about 40 minutes from here though. Don't think I'll be making a special trip for that, LOL! Thanks for the details though, someone else mentioned plumbers gasket in another thread and this gives me more information to go on since I didn't know what it was. I asked DH if he had any, even read your post to him, LOL! He's like what do you need that for? I said for a stamping thing! hahahaha

Holly Molly, thank you so very much for the cost efficient idea..I know these tan mats are really quite pricey at 18 dollars and change...!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I almost ordered the embossing mat- lol I am not a patient person, I think I'll just pop off to the depot for some instead. lol
I went looking for the mat for embossing at Michael's and Walmart(since they are now selling the cuttlebug) but couldn't find it. I visited the little scrapbooking store in our neighborhood and he had the nestibilities (which I couldn't find at either big store). So I asked him about the mat and he said they used the red rubber that is used for making stamps . He sells a full sheet that fits the plates for 7 bucks. It works fabulous and you don't have to use any shims. Its a little store in Sarnia, Ont called Scribbles and Scraps . and the couple have part of the house for retail and one big room for crops. they are extremely helpful and knowledgable about the industry and what is new. The husband makes a lot of furniture/accessories and storage solutions that really are affordable and practical because they use them themselves. Anyways long story short, Too late red rubber stamp sheets (that they make the stamps from).bonnie:o 8-) [/FONT]

I have a video on my blog - third one down in the Spellbinders category - that was made by the folks at Spellbinders and it shows you how to use all types of machines and tells you the sandwiches and extras that you need to cut and emboss.
By the way, the owner and creator of Spellbinders (who makes Nestibilites) has videos on you tube on how to use Nestibilities on other machines and on how to use it in the Wizard (which the Nestibilities were designed for). Now hows that for a company. Ooops, I just read the prior entry...what she said.
Also, the tan mat is made for the Nestibilities. As the person in one of the prior entries said go to www.cutathome.com and get two for a pittance. You have no idea whether or not the mats from the hardware store are the same density and thickness for what you need. I'd rather not take a chance on tearing up my machine by trying to be frugal.
Kate; Thank You so very much for responding to my request for help using the sizzix and the Nestabilities. I found your blog very helpful and found a lot of other great info. there. I will be sharing this information with all my friends.
