I need help please.
I just got a heatgun and powder. I inked the stamp, quickly sprinkled the powder over the image and lightly tapped the excess off the image then heat. Well, most of the leftover powder that was tapped off and not directly on the inked image melted on the paper from the heat of the gun. Any tips? Do I have to remove all the excess powder? How would I do that? Is that normal?

Yes, this is normal, because the powder likes to stick to paper with static electricity. Yes, you do need to remove all the excess powder. If you don't have an embossing buddy to get rid of the static electricity, then try rubbing a dryer sheet lightly over the paper before you ink the image. You can also use a soft bristle paint brush to remove the powder from the places you do not want it before you heat the image.

What ink did you use? If you use Versamark or a craft ink, you don't need to be so gentle when tapping off the excess powder. I don't recommend dye ink at all.
