Just like the embossing folders. A plate, B plate, embosslit, B plate.

Thanks. I ordered the butterfly--it's backordered, but I'm anxious to try it as soon as it comes. I can remember this layering.

When you get the embosslit, you will notice that printed on one side of the product are instructions "this side down" (or perhaps it's "this side up"! :rolleyes. Anyway, I am careful to follow the instructions everytime I use it and it has cut the butterflies flawlessly. Don't know if putting it through the wrong way would affect how it cuts/embosses.

A handy hint that has helped me identify which embosslit is which (I have several and they have no pictures on the outside so until you open them up and peek inside you don't know what image is inside.) My hint is to draw the shape of the cut image on the outside of the embosslit casing with a Sharpie marker. This way you can tell at a glance if you have the butterfly or the heart or the birdies....you get the idea.

Hope your butterflies come soon so you can enjoy them -- they are WONDERFUL!!!

P.S. I also write on the embosslit with the Sharpie marker -- "use 2 B plates". That way I don't have to rely on memory about the correct plates for use in the Bug.
