I have an emboss buddy and I hate it, never use it because it leaves sort of a powdery residue and I use a lot of dark cardstock. I use dryer sheets. I am not sure how it might affect other products, but the idea is to reduce static so that is what I use. I would try it on some scrap if you are using special paper.
A once used dryer sheet will work just as well, without any powdery residue. Do not use a brand new dryer sheet, however, as the softening agent will stain your card stock.
TY for the tip Sue! I have an embossing buddy, finally got one from M's with a coupon after I kept messing up on all the cards, smeared EP everywhere on white c/s. I do love it, never tried it on dark c/s though so thanks for the heads up Ellen!
Cornstarch or baby powder both work great - just dab a cotton ball in there and swipe over your card. Very dark cardstock might show a slight white residue but in general it's fine.

I read on a thread here a while ago that a Swiffer pad will work too. The "dry" kind. I haven't tried it yet, but my BF's mom gave me one to try....

Thanks Chickies!
Thanks everyone for the fab tips! I had just bought the "Buddy" and was thinking, "did I really need that?" I might try the used dryer sheet (I know I have many on my laundry room floor, hah!)
Laura
The number one thing I got from it was to handle the paper as little as possible!
Fabulous video! I'm glad now I bought the buddy, but will try some other techniques for myself. Someone buy that gal some silver embossing powder!! SO nice of her to do!!!! Thanks for sharing that link!!!!
