Default Elecgtric Sizzix Machine

I was thinking about getting a Big Shot then I heard Sizzix was coming out with an electric version. i.e. One that has a button instead of the handle. Does anyone know when this is coming out or more about it?

Thanks in advance!

I found this press release

ELLISON DEBUTS LATEST PRODUCTS FOR SIZZIX BRAND AT CHA SUMMER 2008

CHICAGO, (July 16, 200 – Ellison, the world’s leading manufacturer of award-winning, hand-operated die-cutting equipment, unveiled its newest machines and designs for the Sizzix shape-cutting and embossing system at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Summer 2008 trade show, July 18-20, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont (Chicago), Ill.

One of the most anticipated new releases is the introduction of the motorized Big Shot Express Machine. With just the push of a button, this electric shape-cutting and embossing tool leaves the crank behind by quickly cutting even the longest Sizzix dies in as fast as two seconds. The Big Shot Express is 100 percent compatible with the current Sizzix product library and carries an MSRP of $169.99.

With Bigz XL Dies, crafters can create everything from bags and banners to a French Fry Box, Box w/Tabs, and Peek-A-Boo Windows. Bigz XL Dies are available individually at an MSRP of $34.99.

Movable magnetic dies known as Movers & Shapers create a card or envelope with a window anywhere desired for a truly unique shape-cutting experience. Dynamic add-on window dies, photo corners and other shapes enhance any collection and artistic vision. MSRPs range from $8.99 to $14.99.

Themed offerings make a splash with die assortments for Circus, Celebration, Christmas by Dena Designs, Halloween by Brenda Pinnick, Hello Kitty by SANRIO, me & my BIG Themed offerings make a splash with die assortments for Circus, Celebration, Christmas by Dena Designs, Halloween by Brenda Pinnick, Hello Kitty by SANRIO, me & my BIG ideas, Ornament, Valentine by Scrappy Cat, as well as Tween by Dena Designs. Releases range from Sizzlits 3-Die Sets, Decorative Strip Dies, Originals and Bigz XL to Embosslits and Embosslits XL dies, as well as Texturz Texture Plates, Clear Stamps and Little Sizzles Paper.

“Every CHA trade show, we try to outdo ourselves in terms of product design, quality and versatility for the consumer,” said Lisa Corcoran, President and CEO of Ellison. “With many hot releases, we delivered on retailers and consumers high expectations.”

In addition to the eye-catching new products and planograms awaiting CHA attendees at Ellison’s Booth #1809, many examples of clothes, gifts and jewelry that can be made or embellished with Sizzix die-cut shapes are also on display.

“It’s one thing to see a die-cut shape, and another to see it sparkle on a T-shirt,” said Corcoran. “These excellent applications really drive home the importance of all you can do with a single Sizzix die.”

I've seen and read articles about it and was not impressed with it. The only difference is that you press a button instead of turning a handle. The machine they are talking about is the Big Shot.

I'd rather have the convenience of non-electric for my BIGkick.

I have the Cricut (which is electric) but that's a whole other issue (very different use/features for it).

I wonder what the cost will be for the electric Big Shot?

I would rather not have an electric Big Shot. I see that as just one more thing to wrong and break. If I am sending through a sandwich, I want to be able to feel if it is too thick to go thru the machine. If it was electric, it will just force it right thru anyway. I hope they do not stop making the regular Big Shot.

The other thing is that you have to hold down the button the whole time, so it's not like it's a hands-free operation. I understand some people have dexterity issues, but I've never found my BigKick handle to be difficult to turn.

I agree. I am not convinced about an electric machine that uses dies. I have two other electric cutters but like it's been said thats a whole different story. Besides the fact that I already have a big shot, why get an electric one that will just take up anoter one of my ever dwindling outlets.

As a card class instructor, I have found my electric one to be invaluable. I, my hands, wrists and shoulders are so happy I have it.
