UPDATE ON SHIPPING -

I just received an email from Tim at StampCritter. He said they had a problem with their manufacturer that has been resolved and they are
working on getting the orders filled as quickly as they can.

Hopefully we will have them in our hand soon!

Kim,

Thank you for all your research and information.

I really look forward to hearing about your Stampcritter. When I put up the original post, I didn't realize just how new this product was.

I don't have it yet. I should think I would have it by the end of the week though. It shipped from California and I'm in Illinois. It only takes my Stampin UP Orders 3-4 days to get here and they come from Utah.

Ive been watching this to see what everyones thoughts were on this product but really? It seems like its been forever that youve been waiting to receive it.

I put in an order with Rubbernecker on Friday it shipped on Saturday and I received it on Monday. And it was sent priority mail. Also from California to Illinois. I hope you get it soon I cant wait to see what your thoughts are on this.

I suspect the company is overwhelmed with the response. I filled out a contact form too and they never got back to me. It isn't an excuse but might explain why things seem to be taking longer.

I'm excited to see what everyone things of their new toy when they get it!

From what I understand they were overwhelmed by the response, then they modified slightly the Stampcritter so it was bigger and had a built in timer. Everyone who already had one got to exchange it for the newer model at no cost to them. Then they had some problems with a manufacturer they had to work out. I know it seems like a long time, but it's been about 4 weeks since I ordered mine.

I do hope it is worth the wait. In the meantime, I am looking for some really cute quotes to make into stamps as soon as I get my machine. Does anyone have any ideas. I also send a lot of cards to people who miss church for whatever reasons. Do you have any suggestions for sayings on these type of cards?

Maybe we can entertain ourselves listing the stamps we want to make when we get our machines.

I have tons of sentiments that I want to make, like I heard this the other day

"Life is too short for cheap wine and small diamonds"

I love that one and

"If you obey all the rules, you miss out on all the fun"

I even have great stamps that these will go with as well.

I just received my StampCritter. When you print the images you want to make into a stamp, you have to invert the image. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I probably won't get to play for awhile, I have my 2 year old grandson all day.

Just a heads up, you will need 2 containers for the washout solution and post exposure solution, they recommend Martha Stewarts 1.25mil containers you can get them at K-mart. The containers are 6"x 10"x2". You will also need (2) one liter bottles of water to mix the solutions into.

I have a few other questions about the process so I will email StampCritter and let you know when I get the answers.

OMGOMGOMG!!! YOU HAVE IT????? Sweet!!! I will be trolling this thread to see when you post your thoughts on it.

I think you can reverse your image in almost any photo editor. I have Photoshop and it is really easy to do it that prog.

You can do this in word by creating a text box. Use the fill command to make the background black and the text white.

(Or do they mean the image needs to be printed backwards? My brain is shutting down for the day.) ;)

Or is inverted meaning flipped? I did this in Photoshop Elements.

I know I can use a black text box and white letters. But how do I do it with images or clipart. The lines of your image you want to make into a stamp needs to be white and the background needs to be black. The directions say like a negative. Can you all help me with this? I have an older version of Photoshop Elements and I tried to use the Inverse command, but that didnt do what I need it to do.

It doesn't say anything about your words needing to be flipped or mirror image, but that would make sense wouldn't it.?

Are you starting out with a totally black and white image? I have Photoshop Elements 5 and 6 on my computer. There's a filter under Adjustments called Invert. This will invert the black and white on my image. If you can't find the Invert filter, try using the shortcut on your keyboard of Ctrl + I. Hold down the CTRL key and then press the I key.

My version is 2.0. I'm starting with a clip art picture that is a jpeg picture. When I use the invert command it doesn't change anything.

Helpppppppppppp!

Do I need a newer version?

Hmmm... Can you attach the image here? Did you try the Ctrl+I shortcut?

Oh... and where are you finding the "Inverse" command? I think that is a little different. I think that is a command that is used with the Selection process. (So that you would select something with the rectangle box and then click on Inverse so that instead of what you drew the box around being selected, it "inverts" the selection so that everything else is selected.) I think what you are trying to use is for something else.

Inverse and Invert are two different commands... Here are two screen shots of where each command is found (at least in Photoshop Elements 5.0). You want to use the Invert selection in the Filters drop-down.

Oh bless your heart! If I would just follow directions, life would be so much easier. I was trying to use inverse - I used the short cut and it worked. Thank you so much.

I wish I could make some stamps tonight, but I have company coming, my grandson just left and I still have to go to the bank and grocery store.

I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

Thank you again for your help.

I don't know about PSE but in Photoshop there is a selection tool, looks like a magic wand in the tool section. If I wanted to change everything black to white and vice versa, I would click with the selection tool on black image and change it to red or any color with the paint bucket tool. Then I would choose the outside (white) area and change it to black. Then I would change the inside image that I changed to a color, to white. If you change, for instance, the image to white, all you will have is a white screen, so you need to change either the image or the outer area to another color as an intermediate step. Not sure if that will work in PSE as I've never worked with it.

And to turn it upside down so the text and stuff will reverse, you just flip horizontally under object.

One thing to make sure of when you are doing it this way is to make sure that you have the anti-alias turned off. Otherwise you won't be getting a "true" invert of your image from black to white, etc. You should definitely have an Invert filter in Photoshop. That's the method I would use over the way you described just to make sure that you are getting a true negative.

Also, for anyone with Paint Shop Pro, the Invert command is found under Layers, New Layer Adjustments and then Invert. I have Paint Shop Pro X. (see attached)

OK ladies, I'm back for just a minute then I have to get a dessert in the oven.

I did try this way, and it could work, but she's right. By just clicking ctrl + I it all inverts for you. Very easy. Give this a try first, it will save you a lot of time.

Kimberly, sounds like you know quite a bit about this stuff.

Believe it or not, I did take a beginners class in Photoshop several years ago at the local college. It was fairly easy, but like everything else if you don't use it you lose it.

Thanks again for the help, otherwise I would have stayed up all night trying to figure this out after my company left.

I like to "tinker" with software. I used to be a technical writer for accounting software and had to manipulate images. (Arrgh... Darn cat is playing with the straw to my mug of Diet Dr Pepper. Guess I need to get a new straw.) Now I just love working with photographs and images. I'm also the in-house computer guru where I am employed.

I'm still emailing back and forth so I make sure I do this right the first time. I also need to run to K-mart (which is 40 miles away) to get the plastic containers I need. I can't find any in town with the right measurements and one of the containers needs to be able to fit under the StampCritter (2" high). We only have dollar stores around here and all they carry are the shoebox plastic containers.

We are going to Terre Haute after church tomorrow, so hopefully I can make a stamp tomorrow night.

I was wondering if the two containers had to be plastic or could they be glass? The word "container" sort of confuses me because to me a container would have a top or lid...or are these just open top boxes like a square cake pan or something?

I'm not sure, but I don't think it matters if its plastic or glass. It can't be over 2" high because it has to fit in the stampcritter. I got rubbermaid containers with lids today, so I'm hoping to try a stamp tonight. I'm waiting for an email back on some details. I went ahead and got containers with lids, because one of my questions were if we could put a lid on the container and save the chemicals or if they had to be discarded after each use. I will let you know when I get some details.

Hi Kim

I heard back from Andrew (tech support) if you are going to use text you do have to reverse your text. You did this in Photoshop, can you tell me how? I have a stamp cooking as I type, I will let you all know how it turns out.

Thanks
Kim
