Does anyone have problems with their Slice machine?
My husband bought the MM Slice machine for me for Valentines Day. I was sooo excited with the awesome design cards and versatility of the machine until I actually started using it. I am having trouble cutting scalloped circles, any curved lines for that matter, and the smaller the design cut, the worse the distortion gets! I am so frustrated. I contacted MM and they said it is a known problem with various design cards and they are working on it. I sent them photos of various distorted cuts from each of my 4 design cards and they asked me to be patient until they fix the problem. Today, I got it back out again to give it another try. I made an attempt to cut some 3" butterflies from the Design 2 card. The first time, it cut the outline of the butterfly and 3 out of 4 dots on the wings. The second time, it cut 2 out of 4 dots and did not even cut the outline of the butterfly! I wanted to throw it out the window at this point! I just wanted to check with all of you Slice owners to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem? Please let me know if you are and how did you resolve this issue? I really like the concept of the machine and convenience of just grabbing that little thing to cut one or two items rather than firing up the Cricut Expressions. Maybe I should just count my blessings and be grateful that I have the Cricut that is reliable? I am calling MM again tomorrow, so if anyone has any input, I am open for suggestions.
Hi I am having the exact same problems. They gave me a new slice, but it does the same thing, it just destroys the paper, and some image it won't cut completely, like the snowflakes or intricate things. I now think it's the design cards that are giving me problems... I will have to suck it up however because I threw away the packages of the design cards and kept the cartridge in its case along with the little booklet.
Thanks for both of your replies! I may have to just succumb to the fact of returning it. Maybe they will improve the product and release a new one in the near future. It is just unfortunate that the current Slice machine is not the quality of MM products that I have come to know and enjoy! What a real disappointment! Thanks again!
I'm with Gale. I bought it and ended up returning it because the quality of the cuts, especially at the smaller sizes, was poor. I used 40% & 50% coupons to buy the Slice and all the accessories, and even at about half price I didn't feel it was worth it.
The only time I have issues with mine is when it's not charged. I did have a problem one time with it only cutting one out of three holes. I usually only get distortion when my paper isn't stuck down well enough to the mat. I use mine ALOT so I have to put fresh glue on my mat fairly regularly. HTH!
I just sent mine in for repair/exchange. Whichever they do. It stopped cutting, and they kept on telling me there was too much pressure on the blade, and I only needed to 'adjust it 1/4 turn at a time.' First off, it was cutting fine, and then it wasn't. Why did it cut fine before, and then decide there was too much pressure on the blade? Second, I adjusted that sucker until the blade just fell out! So, at the point it was only screwed in 1/4 of a turn, was that supposed to be too much pressure? (sigh) I can still get frustrated thinking about it.
I love that little machine, and I wanted it to be so much more than it turned out to be. I'll post when they return it to me, and let you know how it works.
Thanks for all the input, I am glad that this little machine isn't just driving me crazy! I spoke with Customer Service again at MM, the girl just said make a blade adjustment with 1/4" turn! For the price of the whole kit and kaboodle (design cards, 12 x 12 mat, replacement blades, etc.) not to mention the endless frustration, I am returning it. I contacted the on line store that my husband bought it at, (createforless.com) and they send their apologies and are going to give me a full refund even though I scratched the 5 x 5 cutting mat! Great customer service! Maybe, MM will get it together and the second generation Slice machine will have all the bugs worked out! Thanks again for all the replies!
