A friend of mine is getting a discount on a Bind it all Machine and was wondering if I would like to get one. I'm not sure if I would benefit from it much. Does anyone have one and do you like it?? Can anyone explain the wires to me...I see there are all sorts of sizes....3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 3/8"...what are the sizes excately?? Is it a spacing thing or diameter?? I've never "seen" a machine in person I'm trying to figure it out by looking online. I was trying to find a video on it, but I have "dial up" and it takes HOURS to download anything. Can anyone help??
Have it ... love it ... one of my favs. I love to make albums from scratch, there are a few pics in my gallery of my latest album made with it. By the way... the bind it all uses the same sized punch and bindings as the SU! books and is also compatable with the 'spiral punch', so you can add pages once a book is complete. You can make the same books as SU! at a fraction of the price ( less than $1 for the bitty book if you make it yourself!!);)
I love it and typically use 5/8" and 1" O wires for just about all the projects I've done. I've used it to make coaster books, chipboard books, tag books, etc. It's very handy and the footprint of the machine is small, so it doesn't take up too much storage room. It comes with a quick reference guide on how to correctly layer your pieces so they close correctly when you are finished. It also comes with spacing guides so you can figure out what size O rings you will need.
Another "yes" vote for the Bind It All! The wire numbers are a measurement of approx how thick your "stack" can be to bind with that particular wire. For example, if you have a 1/2" stack of chipboard/pages/whatever, then you need a 5/8" wire. I use mine all the time for notebooks, etc for my cardmaking classes. I figured out how many projects I needed to sell to pay for my BIA, and that sold me! :-) I charge about $5 for a coaster notebook, and my BIA was paid for very quickly after I bought it.
I had a $20 gift certificate to my LSS and they had JUST gotten them in - so I bought one (cause in my mind it was $20 off ) and I am so glad...
the sizes are the size of the coil - I have been working with 1/2 & 5/8 inch alot - I have been making up small chipboard 3.5x5 notebooks with 20 blank index card inserts and the 1/2 inch works great...for bigger books or when I am doing full chipboard books I do the larger one...
I have been doing the small chipboard journals and selling them for $5 a piece - I got an order from someone for 10 of them...so basically my Bind it all has been paid for with that order...
Let me just say - now with having my BIA - I am VERY VERY HAPPY for the SU Paper special in November

Thank you SOOO much for all the info!! Have any of you used the 1" wire? Do you think that is too big for Coaster projects?? Where you get your book covers? Like if you do journals etc. Is there a place to find different sizes for covers and backing??

I have been using backing board from clearbags.com (wholesale min. order $40) - you can also get it from their sister site clearenvelopes.com
Well worth the dough I spent. I really like this gadget! I've made a few coaster scrapbooks with it and have plans for more and more stuff.

I bought mine in February. Erin Lincoln had a project with it on CK website and I was sold! I bound all my SS mags from when I first signed up since it was a partial year and I didn't want to buy the mag binder for them. I also get the Designing with calendars from Autumn Leaves and I bind those into book form at the end of the year. I also use it for my stamp camps (you can see a picture of it on my blog in the stamp camp article). It's just a fun, fun, fun tool!! I just use chipboard for my covers...you can buy it at HL or Mike's but they probably won't know what chipboard is if you ask but they sell it. Now, I'm wanting the Dreamkuts that goes with it so my pages will all be the same size!
Oh...and I'd buy a small pack of each size and see what works for you. Then, if something comes up that you need a certain size for you'll have it. If there is a size that you find you use constantly, you can buy them from Bonnie's Best (do a Google search for Scor-it and their website comes up). They aren't BIA brand but they fit. They are also 11" instead of 12" but if you are doing mini books and smaller projects, you'll have to cut them down anyway.
well I LOVE my BIA! For those that purchased from the clearbags for the backing which one did you use? They seem to have a lot of different options available, I have used the bia brands but I would love to be able to purchase them in bulk. Also How do they compare?
I hope my husband follows my instructions and gets me one for my upcoming birthday LOL. I used one at my upline's house this past weekend. We made coaster books also ... with the index cards cut down into squares. WE made little Christmas idea booklets ... with a tab for each member of the family. Too stinkin' cute.
Oh, and I think we used 1" wires.
Simmy :-)

I ordered one almost four weeks ago and I'm (not so) patiently waiting for it to get here. I figured I'd save myself a few bucks and order from the US. I'm sure the people at customs are having a grand time with it. lol Maybe today! I can't wait to play!
I just love my Bind It All. I'm glad I bought it at the rubberstamp convention in Akron this past year. I only had to pay $52.00. Which I don't think is bad at all. I also got their cd with it , but just wished it showed a lot more. Anyone buying their book? How about the carry case for our Bind It All. I going to get the carry case and the book and hey, why not the tool kit too. Probably be ordering it next payday.
