can any-one help me out please....I have a Pink Cricut Expression, but I'm wanitng to emboss now as well.. Has any-one used thier Cricut to emboss....Or should a just buy a Cuttlebug or something...
What's a good quality and cheap embossing machine??
I have a Cuttlebug, but when I realized how difficult it can be to find replacement cutting mats I bought a Wizard as a back up. Now that I am comfortable using the Wizard I really like it!
My logic in buying is the Wizard is Spellbinders dies are so popular they would not stop making their Wizard and the accessory mats . They would not want people to be unable to use them if the other companies stop making manual die cutting machines or replacement mats

I don't have a Cricut, I have a Gazelle (it's like a Cricut but different). My Gazelle does emboss but it's not the same as like an embossing folder would be.
I emboss using my Big Kick. If you are wanting to emboss I would really recommend getting a manual machine like a Cuttlebug or Big Kick/Big Shot, etc.
If you are only using it to emboss, the Cuttlebug on sale or with a 40% off coupon would be the cheapest way to go. For a little bit more money you can get the Big Kick/Big Shot (same thing, different look, but both the Kick and Shot work the same) - which takes the bigger dies, etc. If you know eventually you are going to want to use dies in it, I'd go with the Big Kick or Big Shot. It's sturdier, it's just as easy to use as the Cuttlebug, and it takes the big dies.
It would take me a long time to emboss sheets for cards with my Gazelle because, like a Cricut, it has to draw the whole design. Whereas with my Big Kick, I just stick my paper in the folder, run it through and within seconds it's done and I'm on to the next one.
I have a pink big shot, a recent purchase, cause I wanted the new (new to Australia) Stampin Up dies, and they didn't go in my old Big Red Sizzix, (which I still also have). I have a pink side kick as well for my sizzlets, when I'm using scrap.
Just saw this thread and although I couldn't read all the posts, the ones I did read didn't mention this idea. I have the Cuttlebug and the Big Shot and I have them both set up on one of my standing workstations. The Big Shot is used for cutting and my Cuttlebug is all set up for embossing. That way I don't have to change the sandwiches as often and I work faster! More fun in less time! :-)
What a timely thread for me! I love my Bug but I know I'm gonna blow it up one of these days. Love my Silhouette, too. I'm in the market for a Big Kick/Big Shot and just waiting for the right price to grab my attention. As for my bug - I have several replacement cutting mats I purchased at Michael's (with coupons).
i have a red sizzix (use it this little guy the most.... with nesties and cb embossing folders)..., the big shot, the cuttlebug and a revolution that has not been opened. i am waiting till i cant get the thick cutting plate for the red sizzix any longer ! then i will break out the revolution.
Yes, I'm afraid so. I have the Accucut Mark IV (my very first manual die cut purchase), the red Sizzix, Sizzix Sidekick, the Wizard, Quickutz Blue Handle and Purple Squeeze and the Ellison Big Shot... and I know that the question referenced to manuals, but I also have the Cricut, Cricut Expression and the Xyron and I am leaning toward purchasing the Big Shot Electronic version when it releases and I just recently told my DH that I wanted to upgrade my Accucut Mark IV to the Grand Mark (a very large version of the the Big Shot and Sizzix).
added to my "Collection"..lol. Accucut Grandmark cause it was 40% off and I didn't have to trade in my Mark IV to get it and I can now cut those giant and super giant dies, and crease dies that cut straight now. Some of these I hardly use because of the wonderful things that my Cricut die cutter(s) can do, I purchased a Cuttlekids(on clearance) sometime ago just haven't used it or the dies and oh yeah I did get that electronic Sizzix/Bigshot. I use the Big Shot, Accucut and Cricut items more than any of the diecutting devices on hand...
I have the original CB and a black big shot. Will always have two because the CB sits on my desk and the Bigshot is stored elsewhere. Love my Bigshot for the larger dies.
