I have a sizzix machine with a bunch of dies and I like it that I can just easily push the handle down and out pops the shape. Now, I have seen the coluzzle and I am a teacher who would be using some of the larger things for my classroom. How easy is it to use and do I "NEED" to get it..or should I even wait to see what the new cricut is all about?
I am not sure I would like have to cut the shape out by hand, but is it easy? Also, do you see the little parts that you need to cut with scissors (I do have OCD! HA!).
I have used the Coluzzle for years and I really like it. Was tricky to get the hang of it, but once you figure it out and learn to hold the cutter in the right position, it is a breeze.
I really love it, too, but have never tried the Bug. The Coluzzle is easy after a few tries and it's so portable and cheap. Like many of the other things, it's hard to find the different stencil things for it.... but online ... there you go!
I was just at Michael's today and they had the Coluzzle Carry All bag (reg. retail $39.99) on clearance for $12 AND they let me use the 40% off coupon on it... so I was able to buy this for $7.20. Granted, this is basically just a zip around binder.

I love Coluzzles! There are so many shaped templates. Love the nested circles, ovals, rectangles, etc. as well as the special shapes. Others I like are the pillow box, Chinese take out box and 3-d flowers (daisy, sunflower and pansy). It does take a bit of a learning curve, but it is great once you "get it!"
I love my Coluzzle templates! I was very surprised when I read on the ProvoCraft website comments from the company staff about how time-consuming the Coluzzle is to use. Granted, they were comparing the Coluzzle to the cuttlebug, but I still felt their comments were misleading.
The little webs that need to be snipped still give me a little grief; I haven't yet found a better way to do it than with a utility knife. If there's a more reliable way, please share!
I love my coluzzles, I use the tiny tags a ton, I also like the nested oval and circles and their companion templates, also have squares, rectangles, and the 90 degree squares. I love using mine! I use my tiny snip scissors to cut out the webs in between.

It must have just been my luck day! ;) Let me tell you, I was giddy just finding the darn thing on clearance! I almost bought it last night for a little over $20 at Creative Xpress -- but shipping was something like $9 so I thought I'd check this out at Michael's. I really hadn't even thought I could use the coupon on a clearanced item. (I was going to use it on a ribbon spool that was $3.99.) It seems like I almost always use it on something stupid myself.
My DH said to me when I told him about my good fortune... "So you bagged a big one, eh?" He finally understands the concept of how shopping is like deer hunting. When you find an awesome deal, it's like bagging an 18-point buck.

I never could get the coluzzle to work for me. Too frustrating-I went with the Creative Memories cutting system instead. I would give both a try before making a purchase. Have fun trying out both products.
The coluzzle does take a while to get used to and I have bought many new tools since I first purchased the coluzzle, but I can't tell you how many times I go back to it when I am wanting to make something!

a great variety. I find it easier to use my craft knife to cut the webs and their cutting mat is an absolute must as the blade cuts on it like butter!!!

I know...and they do have some great shapes. Like you could make a 6x6 scrapbook page with all the different shapes and I think they would come out sooo dang cute. If I could just work it right..

I love my coluzzle, it was my first cutting system, I also love the creative memories system, and I love my cricut!!! The cricut is not very good for cropping pictures, I think the new one you can(still unsure) but I go back between coluzzle and cm's for cropping and when I don't want to turn on my machine.
I love my Coluzzle as well...it's great for cropping photos because you can see exactly where you are cutting. I previously used a Fiskars circle and oval cutter and those things SUCKED. I recently sold them for $1 each and was glad to get rid of them.
I saw Lisa Bearnson from Creating Keepsakes talking about her favorite products and she likes the Coluzzle better than any other cutting system.

I agree, CoolGear2002 rocks for prices, shipping price, and shipping SPEED. When I lived in Canada they were hands-down teh best place to get Coluzzle items from.
And I'm the same with using a craft knife to cut the webs; when I used my soft-touch Fiskars snips I could only ever get a straight cut that either clashed with the curved line it was joining (ie. when cutting the webs on ovals) or a horribly crooked/straight line going in the wrong direction cut when joining straight lines (like when I cut the webs on my pull-card template).

I really like the Creative Memories cutting system. It's kind of pricey but you can find it on eBay for a little less. I only have the ovals and circle templates.

I love my colluzle. I use it mostly to cut circles to layer. I think it is too expensive to buy different size circle punches and the colluzzle is easy to use.

You may need to change the blade. I have found that most blades in knives like exacto and colluzzle need changed often if you use them often. Paper and CS especially dull the blades quickly. HTH.

If the blade gets caught, you may have the wrong side up. I didn't realize when I first started using the templates that there is a wrong and right side. My blade was getting stuck. I just turned it over and it worked much better.
And I have to ask, because I know this has happened before: are you using the foam mat that came with the Coluzzle? Some people have thrown it away not realizing that was the cutting surface and it just doesn't work using a regular self-healing mat...you need the white foam one.
The other thing to remember is that the templates come with a clear plastic liner on BOTH sides. This needs to be removed before using the template because it can affect the cut as well.
Love my Coluzzle. Love my Cricut. They each have their own place and use.
I don't really love mine. I went off track on one of the ovals while learning how to use it, and now it's kind of messed up and hard to use on that size. Plus I struggle to get the little tags clipped off perfectly.
coluzzle was one of the first things i bought and even though i do have the cuttlebug i still go back to the coluzzle.i know that every one has been going crazy for the scallopped shapes including me and this is bad but i forgot that i even had these in the coluzzle shapes. i got them a couple of years ago but coluzzle does make the scalloped shapes. i have the scalloped circle,heart,square,and oval.it is alittle more time consumming but alot cheaper.
Funny...others out there feel the way I do. I hate the coluzzle...when I have to use it at my stamp club, I cringe, but my friends love it! I love my Creative Memories system, and I have had it for years!!

I have a few of the coluzzles and don't use them much, I should give them a try again. The one thing I couldn't do without is my circle scissor. Makes any size circle and is so easy to use. You can use a pencil in the holes to draw circles also.
