I got the Score It last year for xmas and now the rage is the Score Pal..is that a MUST have or can I get away with my Score It??? Anybody have both and do you see a reason to have one over the other???
I am making out my xmas list and was curious if that is something that I MUST have...... ;)
I tried the Scor-It at a LSS and really didn't like it, so never purchased. I finally broke down and bought the Scor-Pal, and love it. Is it something you have to have - depends. I like it because I can very rapidly and accurately do multiple score line, and it has been a lifesaver for doing mass production.
I don't know much about the Scor-It, but I do have the Scor-pal and LOVE it!! It is one of those one time investments that you'll be so glad you (or Santa) made...kind of like the Cuttlebug. Yes, I could live without it, but WHY??
I never tried the scor it either, but recently bought the scor pal and keep right out. I don't have mistakes anymore and it just makes things so crisp. Really nice investment.
As a fairly new stamper/cardmaker, I just purchased the Scor-pal 6 weeks ago and can't believe how much I use it...My time to make cards is limited during the week and an hour with the scor-pal lets me prepare base card stock pieces in multiples for use on weekend "play" times. I really do think it is the best thing since perma press-----but have never used the score-it.

I have the scor-pal that I purchased when they first came out. I like it for scoring greeting cards but to make boxes, etc that take multiple scores, I find that mine lacks many score lines that I need. I think that has been rectified in the newer models but I am not happy with the one I have.
I have a problem I work in imperial and also metric depending on what I am making so I would have to buy 2. We have the Scor-it and now scor pal but they are in metric. So I guess I will keep my bone scorer and metal ruler and of course my cutter was both measurements and I can score with it. It will also save my bank balance as they are around $75 A over here.

Cheryl, I am pretty sure you can get the new model for a greatly reduced price if you already bought the original - I think it's $20.00.
If you have a paper trimmer (like Fiskars or several other brands) you can easily make very good, precise scores. All you need are your scoring measurements. In fact you don't even need the scoring blade that complements the trimmer. Just a hand held scoring tool will do the trick.
But papercrafters love gadgets....... so you might as well get one. www.scrapbookingalley.com has very good prices and FREE SHIPPING ON EVERYTHING WITH NO MINIMUM.

I have 2 Scor-It's. The little one to take with me and the table size model...If I didn't already have the large Scor-it I would get the Score pal..But I already have $80.00 invested in scoring tools. I like the way the Score pal is set up with the "regular" ruler.
The Score it has a "centering ruler" which is good for cards.

I love my Scor-Pal. I put the mat on it when I'm done and use it for my workspace. It's very easy to measure with the mat.
I highly recommend the Scor-Pal. Get the carrying case too. It is so handy and has pockets for cutters and extra things.
That's wonderful news - I hope they have some tutorials as well for the metric size. I have ummed and ahhed about getting one for a long time and am now glad ot have waited if this is the news.
Thanks for shaing this info - it is greatly appreciated
I have the score-it and tried the score pal and prefer my score-it. I make a lot of boxes and I get a much sharper score line with the score-it which can be essential for tight fitting boxes. I don't need the lines that come with the score pal since I make a lot of my own designs.
The only draw back is the weight of the large score-it. When I travel I just use use my pot scraper and my paper trimmer to make score lines so I don't feel the need to invest more money into another scoring tool.
I ordered my Score Pal today and I can't wait for it to get here. I found it at a discount price of $25 dollars. Everywhere else i have seen it for $44 or even hgher. I see that most of you ladies love it! I will let you know how it goes once I get mine.

I've converted a number of imperial tutorials to metric here, I did all but one of them:
and am working on other metric projects already for the next e-zine.
That's wonderful news. I still think in inches/feet for most things to work out sizes and we (in Oz) converted over 30 years ago (I think) but use cms for card making. It is funny as when babies are born (more times than not) the weight is usually first given in lbs and ounzes when letting family and friends know of the new arrival - go figure!! LOL
I got my Scor-Pal over the weekend and I am just so sorry that I didn't get sooner. I think I spent most of Saturday night just scoring scrap pieces of cardstock. I love this product!
I went to http://www.scrapbookingalley.com/ to get mine. Not sure if they still have it there for that price. But I would check and see. Good luck I know you will love this tool. I do!
