I agree, Robyn. I was really disappointed when I saw all the singular packs being "retired." I'm glad the colors will be available, but it's disappointing not to be able to get a package of one color. Wonder why SU's doing that...
Hazy
Perhaps SU is just going to start packaging them differently... say, more or less sheets per package. Check out this post by AFScrapper, a few posts up:

In addition to discontinued items, many years we also have a number of items that are being offered in a different quantity or assortment in the upcoming catalog. This year, we're offering the following items differently in the Fall-Winter Collection 2007:
Select individual color packs of 12" x 12" card stock
Confetti White & Kraft Tiny Takeout boxes & tags
Select embossing powder colors
Select 1/4" grosgrain ribbon colors
Corner Rounder punch
These items appear on the retired list and will be retired in their current quantity or assortment, but you will be able to purchase these or similar items in a different configuration, quantity, or assortment in the Fall-Winter Collection 2007.
Sorry, I hit 'Submit' too soon. My point being, that I certainly hope they're not silly enough to discontinue 12x12 packs in all the individual colors. My thinking, based on what AFScrapper posted, is that they'll STILL offer the individual packs, but with fewer sheets per package. Since they're having a price increase beginning with this catty, I wouldn't be surprised to see them reduce the quantity of the packs, and not the packs altogether. KWIM? Just my .02, of course.
I think they will lessen the amount of sheets per pack.
The ones they are not retiring are "primary" colors -
Notice they left a red, a couple blues, pink, purple, orange, brown, a couple greens, etc.
I think they will leave these in the fat 20-sheet packs.
The other "less-used/ less-common" colors will be in smaller packs. This is what I think.
I'm more concerned about the wheel cartridges! Holy shmoly! They aren't listed by the demo's as coming back "re-vamped/ quantity change, etc." I think they're just gone....?

That wouldn't make sense though- because we've already seen in the preview catalog that they are releasing a new wheel, and they didn't retire EVERY wheel- if they sell wheels, they really need to sell ink for them.
My guess is that they are redesigning them in someway- new logo, different vendor etc.
However, because you CAN roll across an inkpad, I bet they only sell them in the most popular colors next year. I can't imagine they sell tons of all the colors.
They didn't retire all the wheel colors, just a lot of them. I have a feeling they are just paring down to make room in the warehouse/pick line. They left the one cell uninked cartridge available and all the reinkers are available so there is always a way to get the color you want.

I thought it was weird that they weren't "universal" about their wheel retirements. Like they are retiring Pretty in Pink standard cartridge, but Jumbo is still there, and conversely they are retiring Certainly Celery's jumbo cartridge, but leaving the standard.
It would have made more sense to me what they did with Apricot Appeal: "no more apricot cartridges - retire both standard and jumbo." They seemed very picky and choosy about each.
for those of you who are upset about the 12x12 cardstock coming out in multi packs, i wanted to give you some {{{hugs}}} first!
also, i wanted to say that not all of the 12x12 packs are retiring. (i think someone else might have mentioned that). i marked all the retired packs & these are the ones still remaining (yes, i was being nerdy):
brights - real red, lovely lilac, brilliant blue
earth elements - chocolate chip, more mustard, pumpkin pie, old olive, not quite navy
rich regals - brocade blue, always artichoke, so saffron, regal rose, rose red
soft subtles - pretty in pink, certainly celery, mellow moss, bashful blue
so hopefully, these colors are ones that you'd be interested in anyways! they're some of my favorite colors (okay, not all, but it's a start, right?)
I guess I need to recheck the list of cartridges over. This way I can save some money now if not all the small cartridges are going only some of the colors.

Wonder if these colors will be the ones with the coodinating Pallete O'Prints? You have 17 colors listed, and the preview catty said 16.
Does anyone have a link to an updated list of what's still left? My demo said the designer paper is flying off the shelves. I've sent her my order, but I'm just overly curious...

as of this morning the list looked exactly the same as far as designer paper. If you have a link to the list instead of the attachment, it should automatically update every evening...
I just have an attachment. I do know that gold and silver small organdy are gone, as is gold cording, since those were on this morning's order and my demo said they're already out. She's a sweetie and trying to find them elsewhere for me though.

oh yes, in the list of NON-retiring 12x12 cardstock, i forgot to cross one of them off - it's the not quite navy that's also going to be retired. so you're right, the preview catty has 16, not 17.
I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask this question - but - I'm looking to know if any of the punches are being retired. I don't seem to be able to find a list that includes punches. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
