Saw these advertised at Joann.com. Has anyone tried using them as a card embellishment. They come in sparkle, solid and metallic. They look like they could be a cheap embellishment. They need to have small sampler packs. Thanks.
I have not used diamond dotz specifically, but they look like they are basically flat backed gems (well, resin pieces). I've used flat back swarovski crystals before because I could buy them by the piece from a bead site.
Looking at the individual dot packages (which is what I think you were looking at--the ones that are like $1.49 on sale?), I see that they are 2.8mm. That is really small. The smallest swarovski flat back I was comfortable with was a 4mm, and even that is pretty small. (In sequins, for instance, I prefer a 6mm.) I couldn't find dimensions for the ones that look like they are squares.
They do have multi packs, but since these are marketed for diamond painting, I'm guessing a small sample pack would be unlikely. I think you probably need a lot of each color if you're making a "painting" from scratch.
I do Diamond Dot painting. I find it very relaxing, much like paint by numbers. The dots are plastic and produce a lot of static electricity. You would have to dust them with cornstarch or anti-static powder to keep them from sticking together in shaker cards. I think they would work well if you want to glue them on like gems and rhinestones.
I bought some gems intended for nail art that are similar in size to the Diamond Dotz, and you can get "sampler packs" for super cheap! They tend to be 3mm-4mm in size. Here's a link to a slew of them on Amazon: Nail Gems
Assume you know that Dollar Trees have some small stones as well, in the nail department, that I would imagine would work as well. I don't make as many cards now since my Grandmother has passed, so I haven't tried it. But it would be a less expensive option. They have various colors in a pack.
What type of adhesive would be best to use when adding to cards since some are so small? I have used Tom Bow Liquid Glue when adhering older embellishments that have lost their stickiness and works really well. Not sure if Tombow would work on such small dots.
I like the shaker card idea. I have tons leftover from the projects I have been doing. They are small, but gluing them to a card is another great idea.

What about the false nail glue? Seems like that would have a small tip and would withstand a lot???
I will look into using it. Thanks for the idea. I have so many of them given to me by my sister who has been doing the diamond projects for a while. Need to find a use for them before I get them piled up too much. Shaker idea would be great too!

My sister has made several of the 3D sets and ended up with loads of extra dots so she shared a bunch. I use them as embellishments all the time!
I sorted them into color families for ease of use, placing them into little Dollar Tree clear containers then into a snap box to keep organized. To me they are a perfect addition and cheap!

What do you use to adhere them? Did you purchase the snap box at Dollar Tree also? I need to find an easy way to store them.

I bought a few of the pill sorting boxes from CVS. I had some Extra Bucks, and they weren't very expensive. I'm currently making a medium sized canvas, so I bought a large pill sorter and a smaller one. I also use spare contact lens cases, which I get with every order on 1-800-Contacts, if I have a few extra colors. HTH.
