OK, either my Fiskars paper trimmer (same shape as the SU one) had become messed up-only had it since February- or quality control on the replacement blades doesn't exist. I used a new blade that cut worse than the one I replaced and I just got back from Michaels with a new pack of 2 and both of those leave fuzzy incomplete cuts too! Aaargh. I have the MM large cutter that works fine, but it's not as handy as a trimmer for smaller cutting.
What paper were you cutting? I always get fuzzy cuts (even on a new blade) on Whisper White or Very Vanilla, so I put a sheet of plain copy paper underneath.
I hear you!! After calling SU many times, and getting more blades that STILL didn't work, I am about ready to go back to my old cutter. I even tried swapping my paper trimmer! I just got done writing to SU again because I think it is something with the paper. I am pulling my hair out because I have to go back and re-trim the fuzzy edges with my scissors.
You will get the fuzzy edges even with a new blade. It is not the blade, it is the cardstock.
It is because of the high content of recycled paper they use to make the new cardstock.
Whisper White and Very Vanilla have very high contents of recycled paper in them. Some of the other colors will also do it if the the content is higher.
There was a bad batch of Fiskars blades floating around out there, because I actually got fed up with my newest blade refill and starting using an older one I'd found in my drawer that still had the cover on it, and it cuts fine. Granted I don't cut white or vanilla using that trimmer (SU! Tabletop Cutter for those, and it's a perfect cut every time even with up to three sheets at once!), but for the colored stuff I can now get crisp cuts. I use the Fiskars trimmer to cut out the centers of layers where only the border will show, and want good edges because I reuse those large scraps later.

I know how you feel. One day I got so fed up, I thru the thing in the trash!! LOL (fished it out later, of course).:oops:
I would agree that the SU Tabletop trimmer is the best. I thought I read somewhere that it is made by Tonic? It cuts great everytime, no matter what type of cardstock you are using.
I do use my small fiskars for inside cuts but no matter what type of blade I use, the paper is always fuzzy.
tonic-tonic-tonic! I am sooo glad I bought that thing...no more fuzzy edges on any paper including that cheap recycled stuff!
Are you a mind reader??? I was thinking the same thing...heeheehee
However, I scrap with my Fiskars when not at home, and I have found the copy paper trick mentioned above does work. That said, I don't cut more than one sheet at a time, etc....
I have noticed this too. Lately the Fiskars blades I have been buying don't cut very cleanly right out of the package and then don't seem to last as long. Even with a coupon or on sale, they are expensize and I'm getting sick of the poor quality.
I got so sick of spending $8 for brand new blades that don't #*($&#* work, that I went and bought the Making Memories trimmer. But I don't really like it either. I think it's going to go back.
As usual, I know exactly what I want, but I don't think it exists. (*cough* kinda like the man of my dreams *cough* Lol!!) I want a self-sharpening guillotine trimmer, with either the laser or LED light to see exactly where it's going to cut all the way across. BUT I want it to have the folding arm like a Fiskars trimmer so I can have a 12" trimmer without it taking up an entire table, and if all this could be packed into a package that isn't much bigger than the Fiskars trimmer, that would be even better.
Sigh...
Any suggestions??
Angela

This happened to me a while ago and I got so upset I sent a complaint email to Fiskars. They sent me 4 packs of replacement blades. They did cut better, but they still don't last that long. I may have to look into the Tonic. Who sells it for the best price?
The extra piece of regular paper underneath the cardstock works like a charm! Just tried it this evening with my old blade. It's a minor inconvenience, but cheaper than buying a new trimmer! You only need the paper right under the cutting line so it won't interfere with measuring.
