I've looked through past posts but I'm not finding the answers I need. I am a card-maker, and my daughter loves to make miniatures. I've just received a Big Kick for my 50th (YAY!) so she's excited to try making boxes. Which scoreboard should I consider for both of those needs? I'm thinking a small one will do, but should I get inches or centimeters? Thanks for your input!
If you investigate the HOUGIE board, you will find it has inches on one side, and centimetres on the other. Others may do the same, but as centimetres are not widely used in the USA, maybe not.Although the 'standard' over here in the UK is Metric, I still prefer Imperial. Both can be useful, so I'd definitely look for a board that will give you both, if possible.
Just Googled, and Stampin Up have a score board, called Simply Scored, which is in Imperial, and then an 'insert' you can lay on top, which is metric.
I have both the score pal and Martha's score board. I use Martha's all the time, the score pal almost never. If you need to use centimeters you can always find a conversion chart on your computer. I use both the small and large boards but I prefer the large. hope this helps with your decision.
I have a Score-It and a Martha Stewart........I use Martha's the most. I got it at Michaels with a coupon and it was a real bargain considering what I've done with it. However, I do not like the plastic scoring tool that comes with it.........I use my dry embossing stylus........the small end is perfect.
I don't have advice on the board, but I do have a resource you may enjoy! You mentioned boxes, so be sure to check out Pootles on YouTube. She's a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in the UK and she has a LOT of videos on different sizes boxes and bags. Here is one of her videos:
Although Australia officially completed conversion to metric in 1980, I still use inches a lot for paper crafting, as do many people. Firstly because so much: products, patterns, instructions is from the US and UK and is in inches ( 4x6 and 12x12 etc ) secondly because a millimetre is rather small for most crafting purposes, I have to squint a bit to measure and that amount of accuracy is often unneeded. You might want to check with your daughter what she works in for miniatures.

Thank you very much for that feedback. I didn't think of it that way.
I've tried 3 different scoreboards and the only one that IMHO has correct measurements is SU. The others were off just a wee bit but that makes a big difference if you make intricate 3-D projects. I prefer to have a larger size because a lot of what I like to make uses 12x12 paper. If I'm doing small quick scoring I just use my trimmer and stylus.

SU's isn't a branded ScorPal? I don't know why I thought it was so could very well be wrong.
I love my ScorPal and use it most of the time, but also have a small one I pick up now and then - trying to remember the name...
And agree with fl_beachbum that Pootles is terrific - my first boxes were from her videos, and I just made another one of hers a couple of weeks ago to use as a gift box for a set of metallic paints.
