I just picked up the Cuttlekids at Walmart for $19.99 and my son and I are in love! He always wants to play with my Cricut, and while I love him dearly, I haven't let him get near it We picked up 2 packages of dies and he has been sitting next to me all evening cutting/coloring trucks and pirate ships. He's 5 and it took him about 5 minutes to figure out how to make the sandwiches and crank out his images. Now we can craft together. I highly, highly, highly recommend the Cuttlekids for anyone who has little crafters at home.
My son is turning 3 in April and he DESPERATELY wants one. I am not getting him one this year though. I'm afraid he will pinch his cute tiny fingers or something.
I'm glad your son is enjoying it. I think I'm looking as forward to Stephen getting it as he is.

I didn't know that Wal-Mart sells the cuttlekids!! Or the dies! I work as an Optician at a Wal-Mart here in Oregon and we only have the Cricut :( My DD would love her own BUG but I do share my CB with her!!!
So.... for those of us who can't afford the grown-up version, maybe we could share the kids' version with our kids?
I'm going to have to look for this, my 4 yo DD would love it!
Just be warned, the cuttlebug kids only cuts the CBK dies, not the regular dies, and it is not big enough to put the A-2 folders through. You can use the CBK dies in the regular CB, but not the other way around.

I bought one for DD, and while she loves it, it is really very hard to crank. Any suggestions? We've only been using paper or thin cardstock, and it takes 2 of us to crank it through..
These are so cute!
I have the Tadpole alpha and the Happy alpha and number dies. They look great. Brilliant that they can be used in the cuttlebug My 6yo would like a cuttlekids for her birthday. The cheapest I have found is 30 ($60) so hopefully I can get one cheaper by then.

Someone will have to verify- but I read a review that said it is pretty much impossible to pinch your fingers in it- and this Mom shoved her pinky in there to try.
My daughters are dying for one! I have the cuttlebug and I have to limit their use because I'm afraid they'll break it. I have a 40% coupon and I promised to get them a cuttlekids that they can share this week.

My DD (7 y/o) has been using my CB for a year now. She knows how to set it up herself the Plates that is and crank it etc.... I'm hoping the Cuttlekids is easy to crank too!!! She's never pinched herself but she manage to drop my CB one time but it didn't break it!!! Thank goodness!!
My youngest is 10 and had some money from Christmas just burning a hole in her pocket. She wanted the Cuttlekids which at the time was $24 at Michaels with a coupon. Deciding she was old enough, I suggested she simply buy the dies and use my Cuttlebug. She bought a couple of dies -- and some other stuff -- from Sheila at Scrappin' Great Deals (bless that woman!), which were on sale. Now we share. They are too cute and I can always find a place for a little dog or penguin.
It's nice to have these things to do with them. And since I always ask her if I can use her dies, she is learning that her things are hers and mine are mine. A concept she had a problem with for a while.
Though it's difficult to get injured with the Cuttlebug, it is possible if used by some children. Children can be curious and want to put their fingers in as they slide the cutting plates under the roller while they are turning the handle with their other hand.
The other issue is the weight of it. The children could drop it while picking it up or carrying it. It may be an accident, but in the end a rather expensive accident.
Children could also get curious and try to cut something that is not meant to be put into the machine. Yes the machine does cut nearly everything, but to a child that is not a literal statement.
I caution the students (adults) I teach that the machine is not really for children. It's a tool used in crafting and not a toy.
These are just my opinions and also I am not a parent of human children.

Cuttlekids
OK, just an FYI.... I work at Wal-Mart and we do carry them as well we got them in 2 days ago . Anyways they are a NON-REPLENISHABLE ITEM. So when they're gone THEY'RE GONE!!!!! Our store got 16 Cuttlekids and a variety of CBK dies but only four of each style and again we didn't get ALL the CBK dies.
I never go to Walmart in Canada. But I wonder if they carry the dies. I already have the machine. Getting some dies in an Easter basket could be a good idea. I gave my dd a Easter stacking game last year and she wants to leave it out to return to the Easter Bunny because she doesn't like it. So this time, if she wants to return the dies, I can keep them for myself!!

LOL I was talking to the associate who works in Crafts amd she said it was an Easter item so it'll probably be in the AD next week or something and then be gone!! :(
I would call your wal-mart and see if they carry them the prices were great for the CBK dies! The alphabet die was $12.88 plus my discount and NO tax I don't think I could've gotten it cheaper at M's with a 40% coupon!
i DID buy the cuttlekid for myself as a cheaper option for alpha die-cutting. i have the machine, tadpole alpha, happy alpha, happy numbers, and 2 new sets of A/B plates. just tested it out once and it worked great. but now i'm thinking maybe i want a different kind of grown up die-cutter. i may have to put these items on the buy/sell/trade forum and see what happens. or i do have a 2 year old who might eventually have fun with this.....i don't know....i'm so indecisive!

I'm thinking of getting it for my 5 year old DS for Easter (Instead of candy). He loves to help me with my cuttlebug and I think he would love his own. He loves to make cards and craft with me.

I've discovered that the Cuttlekids dies are exactly the same as the BossKut dies. I also was able to use QK 2x2 dies in the CK successfully. LOL. I bought the CK for my 4 year old for Christmas, it's too difficult for her to crank on her own though.
