I just saw the Joann's ad, that the Cuttlebug and accessories are 40% off this week. I've been thinking of getting one but only for doing alphabets for my scrapbooking. Can anyone tell me if the Cuttlebug machine comes with any dies, especially an alphabet one? Or would I have to buy both the machine AND die(s) to get started?
Thanks! I have a newborn (and toddler) at home and hope you can save me a shopping trip to find the answer. Although, if an alphabet DOES come with it, I'm totally leaving the house tonight!
My Cuttlebug did not come with any dies or embossing folders, but it did come with one set of spacers and cutting mats.
You might want to call your Joann's to make sure they have the things you are interested in in stock. I have 2 Joann Superstores near my house and one has had the same 6 dies/folders in stock for the past 6 months, but the other one had many more to choose from including some of the newer folders.
I thought 40% off was a great deal especially since I was just getting ready to order some online.
I just bought a CuttleBug , two weeks ago... and it came with one small set of embossing folders and one Die Cut Template. It's a Birthday Set that looks like Stamps.
I just use my Cuttlebug for Embossing, because I have a Cricut as well... oh, and a Sizzix.
It's worth the Money if it's on Sale - For Sure!!!

Thanks Mary Ann for the info and the extra tips. We also have two stores in town so I will call both and see who has the better selection. They are on total opposite sides of town and I know I wouldn't make it to both.
It appears that the 40% isn't online or I would just order from there and save myself a trip. Although, I DO need to get out of this house....on four hours of sleep though, not so sure...
I just got a cuttlebug last month & I relaly love it. Althought I've not had time to use it as much as I thought I'd have by now. I would say don't feel pressured to get it b/c of the 40% off. That special seems to come around every few months to AC M**re or one of the other craft stores. Hang in there with the 4 hours of sleep though. I remember those newborn days - I was soo tired - but it does get better!

Love,
Another Mommy of a bunch of kids that understands what it's like to have little ones and no sleep..lol.
If you already have a Sizzix you can use the cuttlebug dies and embossing folders with it instead of buying a cuttlebug. Good luck with the littles ones. That is such a great age even though you don't get much sleep. My youngest "baby" is 13. Time flies.
Dang.. I got my hopes all up and flew to the website without reading the rest of the thread.. can't wait to get back to the states and be able to go INTO a store.
ooops, sorry for posting in the wrong place. i never ventured into tool and product but that makes sense.
hmmm, that's odd that the cuttlebug has come with different accessories. i wonder what it comes with at OUR joann's? needless to say, i didn't call or go to the store yesterday. good idea about sending DH but to be honest, i'd rather get out and leave HIM with the kiddies for a bit, hee, hee. plus, i'm new to all this die cut stuff and would love to see it in person. good tip about being able to use other companies' dies. i don't own ANY of this stuff so i'd be starting from scratch. in my scrapbooks, i stamp titles and cut them all out one letter at a time. i thought a die-cut might save me a lot of cutting out work.
thanks for all the mommy encouragement too. good to hear. i'm so tired!!!
Hi Jamie,
What I would strongly suggest is looking on Ebay for the alphabet dies for your Cuttlebug. In AC Moore, Michael's or Joann's, the dies are $80. Even with a 40% or 50% off coupon, you still won't get a better deal than Ebay. I got a set, brand new and still in it's plastic packaging, for $26 (including s&h)!! The embossing folders, you will make out better going to the store and using a coupon but for the alphabets - Ebay is the way to go!!!
Happy shopping!!
Lisa
ooo, thanks for the suggestion lisa. yes, it's those alphabets that make the whole idea seem so expensive. but your suggestion makes it more do-able. thanks again!
You're welcome! If you go out to Ebay now and search on Cuttlebug, there is a listing for Typewriter #37 for $12 & $7 s&h! You can't beat it with a stick!!!!
I just used my Cuttlebug with a die cut. One of their's of course. My question is...Is it supposed to leave an imprint on the top B cover? Or am I doing something wrong?

Yes, it leaves an imprint. You will have to eventually replace the spacers. Just be sure to rotate them as you use the machine, so you don't imprint on the same place every time. I think Provo says you should get 500 uses from each spacer.

Did you buy this at a Joann's or at an online store? I remember someone had posted a link to an online site who was selling the Cuttlebug this way. I think this is something that the specific online site had put together as a "package" for just under $60. I can't remember the website though.

Here's the link to the online store called Crazy Scraps. You get four small embossing folders and one small 2" x 2" die plus the machine and mats for $59.99 and free shipping.

Hobby Lobby has Cuttlebug (and $10. less than what Joann's charged when they *did* have it) AND a 40% off coupon this week (8/20-8/25). And you can print coupons from the website. The only drawback - you can only use one coupon per day. Karen
