[FONT="Arial"]Ladies and gentlemen, I need your input.
I have been a member of these boards for a while now (currently having lots of fun with recipe swaps). I have a Cricut Expression and love it (I had the baby bug but gifted it to my paper-crafting niece when I upgraged). Everyone on these boards seems to love the Cuttlebug and so, without knowing much about it, I took my Michael's 50% off coupon and purchased one yesterday. (By the way, my Michael's accepted the coupon without question, I'm happy to report.) So I think I got a really good deal.
My issue is: do I really need the CB? I have almost infinite cutting possibilities with my Cricut. Not to mention the investment in 18 cartridges (so far). I doubt I need the CB for die cutting. However, I really like the embossing effects of the CB from what I've seen in the gallery. The embossing folders are limited in size to whatever fits through the CB. I can foresee needing to collect all of the embossing folders! Those are my issues.
Any enablers out there? :-D
Thanks all, Christie B
Yes you do. I sold mine and bought a Cricut Exp. and a Quickutz. Recently I went and repurchased the cuttlebug again. I wished I had never sold it. But I an good now. You can use it with other co. dies as well. I have a bunch of the nesties too.
Thanks everyone for your replies! I look forward to getting to know my Cuttlebug. Can't wait for the next Michael's coupon to start collecting the embossing folders. I knew I could count on you!!
I love it for embossing. You can use other things to emboss: such as Fiskar plate, Ten Seconds Studios Plates and brass stencils. I bought the Big Kick embossing set and cut down the mat to fit my cuttlebug. It works great.
Yes, you will love the embossing. The great thing about the embossing folders, I think, is you can make a very simple card look WOW just by embossing the paper.
If you need a basic folder to get started with, I would recommend D'Vine Swirl. Michael's carries it so you can use your coupon.
It is a classic design, not too feminine, and can be used on all types of cards. I've even used it on masculine cards with a darker cardstock like navy, chocolate brown, or burgundy.
You are going to have lots of fun with your Bug!

If you have a Cord Camera with a scrapbook store in it, check out their prices on CB folders. The price here was $1.50 less than M's or J's then another 30% everday and no limit.

I love my bug and bought it solely for embossing, although I have bought a few die cuts, but the folders are my first love. In fact, have preordered several of the new folders coming out.
I love my CB and the only reason I bought it was so I could using embossing folders and do the partial embossing that I'd seen on some awesome cards here on SCS.
The CB is joining the family with a blue Wishblade, the original Sizzix machine (my kids use it), a Sidekick (for portability), a QK handle/cradle and a Zip e Mate (everything works on this one!)
Three words -- embossing, embossing and - oh, yeah - embossing. I have the Big Kick, which I love, and the Wizard. No Cuttlebug but I have a ton of the folders and love, love, love them. If you haven't yet take a peek at
I have the expression for cutting, which is great. BUT, I can't live without my cuttlebug for embossing. I bought the cuttlebug first and a bunch of dies that I don't use now (and should sell), but you NEED TO KEEP YOUR CUTTLEBUG, you won't be disappointed!

If all that you're using it for is embossing, why not get a few of the folders and a pasta maker? They go through the pasta maker very well. I didn't want to spend all of that money on a Cuttlebug, but love the embossed look, so I went the cheap route. I love the way the paper looks when it's ran through the pasta maker!
Can't wait for the next Michael's coupon to start collecting the embossing folders.
A lot of new Cuttlebug embossing folders have come out this year that I have yet to see at Michael's or AC Moore. I buy mine from http://www.happyscrappinscrapbooking.com/
The prices are reasonable and I've always received my order within a week.
I have the expression and cb folders. I use the folders in my big shot. they work GREAT!!!! My favorites:
1. D'vine swirl
2. swiss dots
3. Paisley
4. happy birthday
oh well I like them all. the disney ones are wonderful too.

Yes! Definitely love the bug's embossing folders and using the Nestabilites on it! Oh yeah and I have an Expression too I use the Cuttlebug mostly for cards and Expression for scrapbooking.
LOVE IT!! Use it primarily for embossing but it does Nesties and dies from any of the other companies. It's so portable and easy to use! Couldn't live without it. :-)

Got my 'Bug in April and haven't looked back! Raved about it to a friend and her daughter bought it as a Mother's Day gift. I got mine at CreativeXpress for $35.00. Bought just the 'Bug and so the folders are of my choosing-like them all but $$$. I use the embossing folder to add texture to items also-D'vine Swirls made my lamb look fluffy and my flower petals had dimension, Distressed Stripes made my Halloween house black walls look lumpy, etc. The uses are endless.
I guess you have now 'caught THE BUG'!! But it's fun and doesn't hurt much except in the $$$.
Just thought I'd put it out there that Joann.com has $2.99 embossing folders and free shipping right now! (You need to get their coupon code from their homepage). Just got a CB as an early Christmas present and needed some more folders. Michaels had slim pickin's and Joann's had quite a few online. Just FYI ladies!:-D
The thing about the embossing folders is they are so inexpensive..more so if you use a coupon and you get many hundreds of impressions with them. I am not sure if they wear out but so far I have a few that have been used literally hundreds of times and still are going strong.
Blessings.
