Default To cuttlebug or not to cuttlebug

I finally has myself convinced I need a cuttlebug. I purhcased my first embossing folder and made plans to sell my Sizzix. My embossing folder arrived and I started to use it with my Sizzix. Now I am not so sure I need a Cuttlebug. I am not a scarpbooker so I won't use many of the die cuts. I will use many of the embossing folders and I am drooling over some of them.

I just don't know if it is worth the investment since my Sizzix will doe what I want it to do.

One question. Does the Sizzix work with the die cuts from cuttlebug like it does with the folders? I have the attachment that will let me use the sizzlits and that is what I use for the embossing.

Thanks for all your advice.

Yes, it works, but personally, I think the Cuttlebug gives a more even result since the pressure on the plates is a constant, rather than depending on how hard you press the lever on the Sissix. Plus, since the Sissix is a solid plate, I had concerns about the edge of the plate damaging the Cuttlebug dies, as the base is a thin metal. The CB uses a roller to produce the pressure: no edge, no damage.

I have a Sissix and will probably get rid of it. THe Cuttlebug takes up less space and is much more portable than the Sissix.

I agree with Jan.

I have both. The Sizzix takes up more space and frankly needs more "oomph" to get a decent cut.

I know this is not the OP's question, but as I am having the same thoughts, I would like to know does the Cuttlebug cut through chipboard and fabric. I looked at them at Michaels this week and all it says is cuts through most materials you would want. Sounded kind of unsure to me. Thanks for all the great help.

I have Sizzix, Sidekick, and Cuttlebug. I'm probably going to sell Sizzix. I LOVE the Cuttlebug. I like that I can cut 4 Quickutz dies at once!!! My projects get done so much quicker.

I haven't tried fabric in it, but I don't see why you couldn't. I'd probably use a base of cardstock to give the fabric some support when I tried it.

I have a question.

I too have just been using my sizzix when using the embossing folders, but, am I right, the cuttlebug you can fit a full card through it? regular card 5.5x8.5?

I believe the width of the bed is 6 inches, so you can send it through longways and it is fine.

With the folders, I put the cardfront in the folder, then fold the back of the card around the back of the folder...works like a charm.

I started to do that today with one of my projects and my Cuddle acted like it was too thick to take the extra piece of cardstock (the back of the card that is wrapped to the back of the folder). I tried it twice and go the feeling if I forced it I might break the 'Bug....did you notice your machine hesitating when you tried to put this stack through?

I got a Cuttlebug and sold my Sizzix. Even though the Sizzix can use the Cuttlebug folders and dies, the Bug is so much lighter, takes up less room, is lighter so it's more portable, is cute, takes up less room, doesn't weigh 3 tons, and so on and so forth.

I actually have die cut many, many more things in the 2 months I've owned my Bug over the 3 years I've had my Sizzix--it's just much easier to use so it's easier to pull out. Using the Sizzix was always a production and way too much work.

I too have to say go for it! I hate hate hate pulling my sizzix out! I have the sizzix alphabet dies and may have used them a total of 2 times because of having to drag everything out! The bug is right there and practically ready to go when you are!

I held out as long as I could, but Joanns has them on sale for $49.99 and all the embossing folders and die cuts have 40% off too. I just go back with my purchases
