CuttleBug Die Cuts - Adhesive Issue

I recently purchased a CuttleBug. However, I am having a problem with removing the adhesive on some of the die cuts I've purchased. Any ideas how I can remove the adhesive quickly and easily? Didn't know if I could soak the die cut in something and if it would rust or not. Help!

Deparate!

there is a product that takes the adhesive off anything. You can even use it on photographs.

Scrap-pal or something. It is AWESOME. You can pour it on paper and it dries clear with not smell...

on AnYthing.

Are you thinking of Un-Du? That works well for me, but I'm not sure about using it on the photographs...
But I still dont' know what adhesive is on Cuttlebug diecuts. And, you're right, I wouldn't soak them, they are metal inside...

I hope you are not removing the white "padding" on the die cut......The die cut is not supposed to be all metal.

I've used it on photographs. It is unbeleivable. Actually it was an accident, and it worked awesome. I was shocked

Yikes!! After reading several replies, I found out I'm not suppose to remove the "padding"! How is the customer suppose to know that when there are no instructions saying not to remove it...? Poop!

No, you don't want to do that. That is part of the cushion which makes the die dut work......I hope you haven't done too many :(((

No, she does not want to take the foam off of the die-cut. This will make it very dangerous!! The white foam is there so you hopefully don't cut yourself!! The pressure of the rollers on the machine squeeze the cardstock in to cut it. Just follow the recipes in the instructions.

I learned my lesson here. I should have asked the forum earlier but have been too shy to try it. Something tells me I'm going to learn alot from you folks. Thanks!

I would not throw them away. I believe you could cut fun foam to the size of the outside of the die place that over the die and run through the Cuttlebug take away the die shape and the glue the fun foam on the metal die. If the fun foam is thicker than you need then maybe a couple of layers of cardstock could do the trick. I know I would try. PS DH says the die will work even with the foam gone. Just our thoughts on the situation. Good Luck Phyllis

SCS is the information highway for stamping!

you can get answers to most ANY question right here! (stamping related or not)

if you are in doubt... try to be patient, post your question, and wait for a few replies! it really is worth the wait.

Hope we stopped you in time, MommaCats.

I remember a similar thread about the Colluzle cutting system. It came with a self-healing white foam cutting mat that was very important to cutting with it. Lots of people thought the mat was packing material and threw it away!

If you had removed some, you can possibly repair them with the ejection foam that you have to add to the Quick Kutz dies. I assume it's the same thing. I know that Archiver's sells it.

You could also try to get replacement foam from Cuttlebug. Try to send ProvoCraft an email explaining the situation and maybe they will send you new foam (it's worth a shot). Or get the foam the Quickutz sells for their dies and try that instead. I know you can buy the foam separately from their dies. Good luck!

ETA*Looks like library mommy and I had the same idea!

Don't feel bad MommaCats...I did the very same thing when I got my Cuttlebug for Xmas last year. A simple note on package like " Do NOT remove foam piece" would sure help..in my humble opinion. I hope you are able to salvage them. Let us know if the fun foam idea works..I'd be interested to know. Good luck!!

Oh eek. Hope you can get it worked out. I had no idea what you were talking about but then when I read I did the AHA--and OH NO! Same with the plates---they get all marked up---I thought I had done something wrong. And the plates will bow and then won't emboss quite right---they kind of pinch etc But if you rotate them it works fine. Yeah, live and learn! Hope your situation works out.

MommaCats - I have a couple of QuickCutz dies and the cuttlebug dies - the white foam on your cuttlebug dies is exactly the same as the ejection foam for the QuickCutz - the difference being that Quickcutz has the foam separate in the package with instructions to apply it to the die. . .

If you can't get it at a local store, try the Quickutz website : http://www.quickutz.com/qk2/viewItems.aspx?cc=227

I third this! Provocraft have provided replacement arms for Cuttlebugs so as their packaging didn't have instructions I bet they will help sort out some replacement ejection foam. I have quickutz dies as well and the ejection foam is very easy to put on.

My experience with the QK dies is just the opposite of Mommacats CB die adventure. I saw the foam piece in the packaging and couldn't figure out what it was. Also, tried cutting an image and couldn't figure out how to get it out of the die without completely ruining it. After, finally getting the image out, I decided to 'READ' the label. Aha - so I'm supposed to stick the 'ejection foam' (clue-name of the foam) to the die so it will release the image!!!

Ditto. The ejection foam helps you to remove the die cut from the die. I had gotten some Quickutz dies that didn't already have the foam on them; the instructions never said that you had to apply it but that it might work better with certain types of paper, CS. So, . . . I used them without the ejection foam in place and what a *&?#% that was to get the die cut out from the die!!! NOT easy!

I was at a class at Pat Catans a couple weeks ago and they where demo the quick kutz and did not have the release foam on them no one could get the first dies cut out. So they put it aside and said something wrong do not use not a good product. I came home and looked at mine and reallized what they had done could not go right back for they are a one and half hour drive for me away. So don,t feel bad even the ones who sell the products goof
