Cropper Hopper Ribbon Holders-have you seen them??
Hi all,
I was in the city this weekend and had no luck finding Cropper Hopper Ribbon Holders. I wanted to at least see them in person. If you have these or have seen them what are you're thoughts? I think they have a strip to hold down the ends of the ribbon, right? Please help if you can. I can order these on-line, but wanted to get some opinions first.
Thanks!!

I use this system for my loose ribbon and I know several people who have them as well. Many people who have participated in my ribbon shares have opted with that method also. Here are some links to blogs so you can see it in action:

The middle of the ribbon card has "gripper jaws" that you start the ribbon in while you are winding it. There are optional ribbon clips you can buy to hold the end of the ribbon down on the outside, but I don't like them. They are a bit bulky and make it to where less ribbon can fit in your drawer (which is a BAD thing for me since I have 4 STUFFED full LOL) I just tape mine down with scotch tape.
I love having all the colors at my fingertips! HTH
I like to see my ribbon so I use mostly gutters, but lately, I've been getting more ribbon by the yard at my LSS so I just bought the small ribbon drawers at hobby lobby and the nice lady there ordered the ribbon cards for me to go inside the drawers.
The ones I'm talking about are not the drawers, but the holders that are somewhat like the Stampin' Up ones that hold the spools. But I think the CH ones have the plastic strip along the front to hold the ends of the ribbon down. I also have a drawer that's referred to above and I will get some cards for it for my loose ribbon storage.

Jody,
The pictures you linked from post #4 are great visuals. Regarding post #5 (quoted above), can you give an estimate of how much ribbon each card will hold? And, I like your idea of using scotch tape to keep the loose ends secure, instead of straight pins, but am wondering if the scotch tape leaves any adhesive residue...

I put 10 yards on each card. There is a tiny bit of residue, but I am able to rub it off normally.
I just bought one on ebay (thanks for your input Jody) last night with the cards and clips... Just got an email from my LSS tonight saying they are buy one get one free... the drawers, clips, and cards.... Isn't that weird... never even knew about them until yesterday, buy last night, and now it is buy one get one free.... of course I will need more than one, so I have to take advantage of this sale!
I like the cropper hopper ribbon holders but they only hold up to a 3" diameter ribbon so that means the SU grosgrain won't fit.
Brenda, did you end up buying any of these?
Hi Shannon,
No I didn't end up getting any. I got some of the drawers with cards for my loose ribbon. And I saw the post where someone used the Crop-a-dile to put holes in the front of their SU ribbon holders, so I did that since I already owned the SU ones. And I love them!! There are pix of them in my gallery.
I have the small and medium. The small one is perfect for the spool ribbon and it holds 8-12 of those. The medium I use for the next size up, but it is not big enough diameter wise for the SU grosgrain. But I specifically bought them for my smaller rolls/spools of ribbon and they work nicely.
