ok, I have a few questions? For all of you who own a Cricut Gypsy, is it worth it to purchase one? Do you use your gypsy on the go like you thought you would? Have you had a lot of problems with the Gypsy? Would you recommend it to someone who is looking to take their cricut and gypsy (if I buy one) camping with her for scrapping on the go? Is it hard to install your cartridges on the gypsy? Thank you in advance to all who will help me decide if I want to purchase.
I have one but don't use it a lot. I like having access to all the images on the installed cartridge because you can use them together on your project. I just recently used it on a project.
I would like to take some classes but there aren't many in my area so I have been watching YouTube tutortials.
I have Design Studio and the Jukbox also. Never could get these to work for me. I would get so far then the project would be gone so I would have to start over. Too frustrating for me.
Hate mine. The screen is way to small. I only keep it because I have several "gypsy only" carts. It's a great idea and I would love it and use it constantly if the screen was larger.

I love mine. and I have "over 50" eyes. I can see just fine - you can always hit the zoom button. I feel as though I have so much more control over my finished project with my Gypsy - I can place my paper where I want it on my mat, I can weld my word together, I can delete portions of a file that I don't want cut out.. and I don't have to pack all my carts when I go to a crop..

I second all of the things stated here and I also have "over 50" eyes. I do use the zoom button frequently, but I don't mind that. I love that I can make size adjustments, either width or length, with the Gypsy, as well as being able to weld. So much fun!
Another thing I would like to add is I can change the size of an image and actually know how big it will be. I don't understand the dial on the right with the numbers. I know it changes the size but I don't know how big the actual cut image will be by just using #1, etc. 'Real Dial Size' means you dial in the actual size.
I use the zoom so that I can see the actual pattern of an image or how close the images are to each other.
I have had my Gypsy for several years and haven't used it much but am becoming a little more comfortable. The owner of the LSS near me is also a neighbor so she helps me alot. She was helping me with my latest project and didn't get to eat lunch until after 2:00!
I like it because I design on my design studio where it is big then save it to my gypsy so I can cut it when I want to and never have to plug in a cartridge.
I bought my Gypsy about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it. I also have over 50 eyes and yes some of the images are small, I sometimes still refer to my cartridge books. I love they way that you save paper by being able to cut layers in just the colour you want. I also love that you can work out how big to cut so that everything fits eg. words onto card.
I have self taught myself with the help of many utube videos. I don't ever use the cartridges now I just use my Gypsy. I have never had any trouble with it. It was a bit scary getting it all up and running though and I did have to try syncing it twice but again I just followed the utube videos and everything worked okay.
I recently bought one, and absolutely love it! I've watched a lot of You Tube videos to help me figure out how to use it. It's super easy to link the cartridges, too. The best feature is that when you're looking for an image, such as a leaf, it will build a list of each the cartridges with the leaf and an image of each leaf, too. Makes looking for things soooo much easier! I plan on taking my Gypsy to a crop this weekend. I'll probably take some of the handbooks too, in case I need them. HTH
Thanks for starting and responding to this thread, I was wondering the same thing! I am very interested in getting a gypsy, and hoping that they have deals on them similar to Black Friday last year. I really love the idea of not having to take all my cartridges with me when I go to a crop or a friend's house. Or doing projects at a friend's house like when we did vinyl lettering at the neighbors...we mixed up the fonts, and had to turn off the machine, change cartridges, play with the letters...I think the gypsy would have helped a lot. Is it just me or do you not see them in the stores any more? I haven't seen them advertised much lately. Thanks again! Great info

So sorry I got lost for a few days. Had to work overtime. Thanks for taking your time to reply to me. I caved and purchased one. Hope I love it. I think it will be wonderful not to have to carry around all the boxes and cartridges. The handbooks are not so bad to carry to look at if needed but hopefully with the Gypsy even that will be eliminated to a degree. Thanks again everyone. I appreciate this community where you can ask questions and get informed help.
www.cricutmachine.com is having a pre black friday sale and that is their sale price. they have the large cricut cake machine for $49.95 I ordered three of them for work and will put in the deep cut housing blade assembly and use them for paper. I do crafts with assisted living and had purchased a cake machine for myself at that price, strictly for paper use and it works wonderful.................I love my gypsy which I got on clearance at a Michael's for $19.99 (found it sitting on the customer service counter with a big sign that said last one and then stated the price-i actually walked away and then went back and got it. LOVE IT.
I bought a Gypsy used and have learned a lot about it from You Tube videos. The more I learn, the more I like it. My primary goal was to carry all my cartridges to a crop, or the woods, in one little place. I do miss have the books but again, I'm learning to search on the Gypsy and zoom in on images. I usually have my laptop at a crop and I have downloaded all of the booklets on my laptop.

I third (if that's possible) all of the good things stated about the Gypsy. I'd be lost w/o mine. Yes, the screen is small but you can zoom in. You can see exactly where your image will print & move it around. My favorite feature is I can create one design using images from all my carts or as many as I need w/o inserting each and every cartridge in the machine. I don't do crops, there are none in my area but I do take it with me to appointments or outside relaxing. There are many YT video's to learn the G. I strongly recommend buying a Gypsy if you own a Cricut machine. Even with the new free CCR, I use my Gypsy. I design on CCR & download the images to my G for cutting.
