Sorry to have just found this topic and not been able to comment earlier. I do want to put in our two cents, though.
First - the Creative Palette cannot do everything the Gelli Plate can do. The packing tape technique is one thing that comes to mind immediately. It does, however, work beautifully with stencils, but one cannot expect to follow the instructions for a totally different product and have them work. Stencils create amazing effects on the CP with the use of a foam roller brayer or sponge daubers.
Second - The Creative Palette is a firm, lightweight, flexible surface. It can be lifted and brought to the surface easily, like a stamp. This makes printing directly on home decor items easy.
Third - The Creative Palette may be stored in any position, in or out of it's secure, snap-shut case. Other monoprinting surfaces must be stored flat. You can easily pop your Creative Palette into a magazine holder or on a bookshelf for easy, within-reach access in your crafting area.
We've got lots of tips and videos on our
Creative Palette Playlist on YouTube. My biggest quick-tip is to wash the palette in hot, soapy water as soon as you get it. This will eliminate all the difficulties we've been contacted about by users.
Fourth - RE: reviews online - you do need to approach these with a grain of salt. They can be written by anyone, even if they have not purchased the product. (even if they are a competing company that doesn't even have a monoprinting plate option) It would be so nice if people would write to a company for help before putting up a poor review. There are tons of ways to contact us. If you'd like to reach our graphics department directly you can always email us at submissions (at) stampendous (dot) com.
Thanks!
