I made this Clear Envelope (Brag) Book this afternoon. I'm going to try to use up a bunch of supplies that I have. I've had this Mickey paper for at least 5 years!
Thanks. My husband asked if it was OK to sell something that is so blatantly Disney. I am not sure, I can't find anything that says that I cannot. Does anyone have any knowledge on this matter? I did add a little to the brag book, I like it better now. Sorry the picture is bad.
Cute matchboxes. One idea I saw at a craft fair awhile back using matchboxes was a "Tooth Fairy Box" - a matchbox covered and with a little fairy image on it and "Tooth Fairy Box" stamped (? probably computer generated) on it. Inside it had a little "nest" of cotton wool for the tooth to sit in. Kinda cute and easy to make
Oh, that's a wonderful idea!!! I just got the Fairy Friends stamp set from Pink Cat Studio - YAY!! :-D Guess what I am going to get started on ;)
I can fit an individually wrapped bag in there, it's just not near as cute.

I haven't read ahead yet to see if anyone else suggested this, but couldn't you display some (not for sale) with the candy loose inside, but sell containers that have a sealed bag inside? People would see how cute it looks but not have any issues with loose candy.

I'm pretty sure you CAN'T sell something with Disney images on it like that. All their images are copyrighted.
I have done 2 craft shows in the last month. It is funny, what you think will sell, doesn't and the things I am not so sure about do. I agree with the previous poster, try to keep things under $5.00.
We actually had people come to this show because they knew we would be there I was told by a few people. So be sure put out your schedule.
I have posted some of our projects on our website if you want to take a look.
I've signed up for 2 Christmas craft fairs so far. They are very popular in this area but this is the first time I will be a vendor. So far I've made gift tags, small gift cards and gift card holders. I bought quite a few of the A2 acetate card boxes and plan on filling them with pre-wrapped treats and decorate the boxes. I am very new at this so this thread is very helpful! Keep those ideas coming!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... That's fine, I'll just use them for my kids and my nieces. They'll love having brag books of the next time we go to Disneyland.

Would you like to share what your best sellers were?
Hi Christel,
We sold quite a few of the Frankenstein boxes, Halloween treats and magnets yesterday. Post it note holders also sold pretty well. As did the binder photo holders.
We did laminated bookmarks for $2.00 and did not sell a one, much to my surprise. At the first craft fair we did, I was asked several times about bookmarks so we decided to do some. Wish there was a magic formula to figure it out.
I am also going to do my 1st craft fair next month...I got a really good deal on these paper mache wine bottle holders (1.00 apiece). I have one decorated, I have about 3 dollars total into it, what do you think and how much should I charge for them? Also I made these little felt gift bags, what do you think I should charge? I love this site. I have gotten SO much good advice. Thanks All for your help and i am sure you hear from me again before the fair.

When you find that forumla, let me know.
I had a craft show Saturday. What sold the best were purse gift card holders, and I only brought 8. I could have sold many more.
I had bookmarks, too, and only a couple sold. But I made a ton of mini-paper clip bookmarks, with just a cute sticker on the front and a ribbon tie. I marked them 50 cents each, and nearly sold out. Every child at my booth wanted one. They had unicorns, fairies, and kitty stickers on them.
I also had good sales with Tootsie Pops, covered with a paper sleeve, Halloween sticker on the front, and orange ribbon tie. At 50 cents each, they also went very well with kids. Note to self: make lots of cheapies for children for next craft show.
Here are links to pics of the bookmarks and Tootsie Pops. I think I will make some Christmas themed ones for my shows in November.

Anita, your items are so beautiful! Especially the little bags. They look like they could be selling in a fancy boutique. I have no idea how you should price them though. It really depends on the buying habits of the people who will attend the fair.
People are selling lots of things really cheaply because of the economy. But try not to underprice yourself as they are lovely.

Anita,
These things are so pretty! I would try to sell the bottle box for $6 or $7. You could try to get more but might run the risk of not selling it. I think you could sell the little bags for $3 each. Would that get you a decent profit? Do you have any idea what type of buyers will be there?
Loose candy - I never sell anything unwrapped. Just my 2 cents.
Cards - Oh, I wish I could sell 200! My friends and I just did a craft show and didn't sell many individually packaged cards (priced at $3 each or 2 for $5). We never do.
What sold? Candy bar wrappers (I found directions a long time ago on K Werner's site) -both with Hershey bars in them and without ($1.25 w/candy, 75 cents w/o), domino pins/magnets ($2 each), glass pebble magnets (50 cents each), 8.5 X 5.5 journals ($4), and binder clip photo holders ($1.50). I also did a "buy one, get one free" deal on my "clearance cards" (old, simpler cards I had packaged into clear cello bags - 6 cards for $10 a long time ago but not sold many) - that moved quite a few cards.
I did a craft fair in April this past year and I sold almost all of my 8x10 tiles with different quotes on them - I have pictures but cannot find them - will post them later.
I've already made quite a few small items for the 2 craft fairs I'll be attending next month. I bought a few boxes of red Christmas ball tree decorations and plan to cut some vinyl words to put on them. Hopefull they will sell.
I saw cute little paperclip bookmarks on this thread - can anyone point me in the direction on how to make these? They are so cute and I'm sure they would seel great here.

Would love to see the photos of the 8x10 tiles... cool idea!

Chantal, I sold these for 50 cents at my craft fair last Saturday. They sold well. I used the jumbo size paperclips, 2". They have them at office supply stores and Walmart, too. Sometimes you can find them in colors. I didn't bother stamping - just used cute stickers and a ribbon. Kids really liked them.

Lisa, did you use the regular size candy bars to sell for $1.25? Candy costs so much these days. You can't buy a plain candy bar for less than 99 cents here.
Your booth and display looks great. Very inviting.

About York Peppermint Patties, if you're looking for them to make cute little packets like sptchick's. They are on sale this week at Target until Saturday.
A huge bag (about 42-45 patties in it) for only $3.79. They were kind of hard to find in the candy section because of all the Halloween stuff. I had to ask a clerk where they were.

I believe you are free to sell it because you paid your dues when you bought their paper and embellishments. now it's yours to resell.
The restriction would be that you are not allowed to create your own paper/stickers or make photo copies of disney characters or logos. Once you've bought their merchandise, you can alter it and sell again if you want.
Good luck!
OK, here's photos of the matchbox that I just did. So easy! I think I'll make a bunch of these, Christmas and generic (non-holiday).
-Christel
I just found this thread, so forgive me if you've already answered this: I really think that your matchboxes are adorable! Now, do they actually have matches in them? I can't tell from the pictures. Are you leaving matches in them, or putting in candy or something?

There are matches in there. I know it's kind of funny, but I thought they'd be such an easy way to dress up the old "matches-in-the-bathroom" look. Maybe I'm the only one who leaves matches in the bathroom? I had to be sure to not make the paper too tight. It actually slips off of the matchbox (and lid), so you can strike a match. I had thought about cutting off the strike plate and adhering it to the outside of my paper, but it's just too time consuming. Plus I'm not sure about the flamablity of the glue I would use. All in all, I am really pleased with them and feel like I can easily sell them for $1. I'm glad you like them :-D.

She said she left the matches in them because they were too small for candy.
As far as the candy bars,I get them by the case at Costco,...it costs aprox $0.52 for each bar and I sell mine for $1.50,...there are some things I just get cost of supplies for and little more, however the looks I get for some things are a Kodac moment and make me so proud. I do have items that I get more then my 3x's the cost so,...I feel with that warm and fuzzy feeling and what it cost in supplies,...I'm good.
I have been following this thread and have been so impressed with each and everyone's work and sales ideas. I'm going to get busy this week so I can contribute to this thread. A BIG THANK YOU!
Last year was the first year I made hersey bars with the Christmas Fudge poem. I bought them in the multi pack like barbiejo. I wrapped each bar with a wide Christmas Ribbon (the ribbon was the width of the candy bar) from top to bottom and attached the poem to the front of the bar on top of the ribbon. Inserted it into a clear zip bag the same size as the bar and attached a gift tag with a little piece of red ribbon thru a hole in the top of the zip top bag. I had only made 5 for the first show I did and sold all of them for $2 each and could have sold more. I made some more for the following shows and I think I ended up selling about 20 total. Hopefully I will have time to make more for this year. I did one of the giant hersey bars I got on sale for 1.50 for the fun of it for the second show last year and it sold for $4. Also did a few of the little mini hersey bars in a 4x4 zip bag and they sold for $1 each. Last year I found the best price for the multi pack Hersey bars at Walmart. Barbiejo, how many do you usually sell at 1.50?

Reason: additional info
someone asked how to figure up how much to charge - i was told to add up the cost of materials then double it. so if it cost you 2.00 to make - u charge 4.00. i dont think this is an iron clap formula, but i thought it was a good place to start.
I think I'll make up a few dog treat goodie bags for my craft fair. I won't make too many, maybe 10, in case they don't sell. Any idea what to charge for them? I'm thinking a clear cello bag with some dog biscuits in it with a bag topper.
